About the property

3br/3ba Mountain View Directly on River for Fishing, Hiking and Relaxing

If you want to stay at a beautiful house that replaces the constant sound of your television, cell phone and wasteful time on the internet with the soothing sound of a river, chirping birds and wind rustling through the trees than this is the place for you. Get away from the daily grind and immerse yourself in nature.

The 'The River House' property is located on the Western North Carolina fly fishing trail (west fork Tuckasegee River) and sits on 12.5 acres. The property is about 10 minutes from Lake Glenville and 15 minutes from downtown Cashiers. Also close to Sylva, Highlands, Waynesville, Franklin and Asheville. This is an outstanding property offering fly-fishermen, naturalist, hiker and adventurist the ultimate experience.

This Moss Creek designed log home, 2BR/2BA home, is now complete and looks amazing. No expense was spared in creating a luxurious log cabin with marble counter tops, stainless steel appliances, antique wood floors, claw-footed bath tubs for each bathroom, 3 fireplaces and many carpentry details that can only be explained by visiting the property. This property is exceptional in every way. Some of the materials used in the construction include: antique logs, bricks, dry stacked stone, reclaimed wood & barn wood timbers.

The property also includes a 1BR/1BA guest house that overlooks the pond and the length of the river. Both houses show great attention to detail. This property is breathtaking and offers a completely relaxing experience. You can sit on the back porch and watch the river rush by, fish from the banks or wade into the river that is only a few steps away. There are also many miles of hiking trails directly adjacent to the property that follow the river or uphill toward the top of the mountain. The interior of this home was designed by CJ Brownhouse and has everything you need except the food.

The river house is located directly on the fly fishing trail along the Tuckasegee River. The fly fishing trail begins in Western North Carolina and provides a suitable habitat for trout.

Other amenities include a large pavilion with Jenn-air grill and open air fireplace. All buildings are located directly on the river and provide unprecedented views of the river.

Perfect setting: idyllic cabin, beautiful stream

  • 5 of 5

Wonderfully appointed cabin nestled in the mountains by a stream. Just far enough away from town to feel remote, but close enough to enjoy some shopping and purchase supplies.

The cabin was clean and comfortable. It had everything you could want. Perfect place to unplug from the internet and reconnect with nature.

Dax was a great host.

A perfect place!

  • 5 of 5

This was an amazing cabin right on a rushing stream. We have rented many places over the years, but have never found a place as perfect as this! If I were to criticize anything it would only be that the master bedroom mattress was a bit uncomfortable. After a couple of difficult nights we adjusted to it. Be advised if you rent here you should be sure you bring things like extra toilet paper, foil, plastic wrap and containers for left overs, as none of those things were there. Also, besides salt and pepper there aren't any kitchen staples here. Not a problem for us as I travel with spices and other kitchen essentials, but you will want to stop and get things on your way in if you want them. We were so happy that there was a charcoal grill there, but you will probably need some charcoal...we left ours behind for the next guest as someone had done for us. The Ingles in Cashiers was great for groceries, and just down a short way from the cabin is a little Mexican food store with a Taco Truck selling freshly made Mexican food which is truly authentic, and truly delicious! We had a really fantastic 10 day stay here, and hope to return again!

Fly fishing surprise

  • 5 of 5

It was not just the journey, it was about this destination! The cabin and surrounding grounds were beautiful. Everything was set up so that there was not one hitch.

We will definitely return to this paradise again.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

This rental was a great getaway. You're secluded in the mountains, but close to some fun little towns. There's really no need to venture out though, the rental has pretty much everything you need. It is clean and updated. We got to experience two of the dam release dates so we had the opportunity to watch some adventurous kayakers and meet some new people. You can hike from the site or hangout by the river. The owner Dax is very easy to work with.

Beautiful cabin on beautiful stream!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the quiet coziness of this mountain cabin. The stream is very close and makes the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing, get away from it all vacation!

We did not really miss having no Internet or cell phone service. This gave us time to read and spend quality time together. Would love to go back when it is warm enough to swim in the swimming hole in the stream.

The only thing that was a slight inconvenience was that there was not a shower upstairs, just a claw foot tub. But the tub was awesome!

Would definitely rent this cabin again! Thanks Dax!

Very beautiful

  • 5 of 5

If you want quiet, isolation (there are only a few cabins in the development which is under development) (probably a great buy if you want to build yourself) and beautiful grounds, this is your place. The directions were a bit confusing at first -- better to say .8 miles after gate, then left (more of a turn than bearing) then another .8 to the Cabin bearing left at the Y. Having the DAX signs eliminated confusion. We also didn't realize the third bedroom was a lovely little cabin to the side, just 30 feet away. I would go back in a heartbeat, and use the third bedroom for a guest (we didn't). It is like living at your own private resort (there is a pavilion and acres of property land to walk on beside a stream) away from commercial TV (but it is stocked with maybe a hundred various dvd's), cell pones, internet. If you need anything from a store, Cashiers is 20 minutes away, a great little town with shops for everyone. This is a real gem.
