This cute little cottage has two bedrooms and 1 bath, with a living room and kitchen and is all on one level (no basement), with off-street parking. The neighborhood (about 3.5 miles north of downtown Seattle) is quiet (on a dead-end street) and within walking distance of buses and restaurants. The house is furnished with all new furniture (mostly Euro-styled), including a queen-size bed in the master bedroom and a double-size futon/coach in the 2nd bedroom/study. The kitchen is fully equipped, including an espresso machine. Most of the appliances (washer/dryer, gas range, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher) are new and whole place has been renovated within the past couple of years. It has a gas fireplace, with forced air gas heating and A/C. There is high-speed internet with a wireless router with cable and phone outlets in both bedrooms and living room. The yard is fully fenced and landscaped (with a pond and water fountain), and has a great view (to the west) of Magnolia, Queen Anne, & Ballard with water and mountains. The living room and master bedroom have French doors to the back-yard (and view), with a covered patio off the bedroom, and includes a barbeque and fire-pit.

Overall very nice
There are many great things about this property and a couple of issues. We stayed quite a while from mid-August through October 2018.
First, the good:
-A very cute house/cottage with a very nice backyard view.
-Great, responsive owner
-The neighborhood is very nice with some great restaurants and coffee shops nearby.
-The street is very secluded because it's a dead end, so not too much traffic and low concern for safety.
-Comfortable queen bed.
-Kitchen is rather new and well stocked with appliances and dishes.
-While the surface areas of things were relatively clean, when we looked a level deeper it was quite dirty. Dust on blinds and window sills, tons of dust under the bed and on all the baseboards, dust and even a bit of grime in the kitchen closet. We had a pro cleaning company come when we arrived to do a 'deep clean' since we were spending so much time there. The owner paid us back and was very good about all this. But I advise asking the last time a 'deep clean' was done before you rent and make sure one has been done in the last 12-18 months. We did the clean in August 2018.
-The neighbor to the north has a large dog. While very friendly, it's bark is loud. The owner allowed the dog outside after 10pm barking five times until I told her I would call the police (after asking nicely once). It was not a problem again after that. Don't be afraid to make this issue clear to her if it resumes.
-The bushes and flowers were a bit overgrown for our taste. But this seems common in this neighborhood and Seattle in general.
Warm, comfortable cottage with an amazing view!
This is our second stay at the cottage in Fremont, celebrating another graduation from the UW. The cottage is well-appointed and offers everything needed to prepare meals and even host a graduation brunch. The yard is lovely and the perfect setting for coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. The cottage is located in a wonderful neighborhood with many fun areas to walk or run. There are also some neat restaurants in walking distance. A perfect spot!
Exceptional location, Beautiful view
The property has an excellent location central for access to communities north of the lake and with quick commute to downtown and Capital Hill.. The house is clean, well-maintained and well-appointed. The views are breathtaking.
The owner responds quickly to any request and is very helpful and accommodating.
Great location and views!
Lots to see and do nearby.
Comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen.
Glad that you enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you again in the future if you are back in Seattle.
Very nice and cozy. Can't beat the view. We stayed three nights when we were in town for my sons wedding. Owner is very responsive. I would definitely stay again.
Glad that enjoyed your stay. Please keep us in mind for your next visit to Seattle.
Quiet and comfortable cottage in great location
We had a lovely stay despite the terribly hot weather at the beginning of our trip (the A/C unit died while we were in transit and could not be fixed during our trip). Peter was very gracious and bought fans and assisted with cooling the home during the heat wave. There is a lovely garden and view from the backyard. The home is child-friendly and there are several parks for children within 2-3 minutes drive from the home. The beds and furnishings are comfortable, the kitchen well-stocked, and the linens very nice. We would definitely stay here again.
Glad that you enjoyed your stay and thanks for being understanding about the AC problem. It was truly unfortunate to have it break down during one of the rare Seattle hot spells. We should have the AC unit replaced within the next few weeks.
We hope to see you again soon.
Palatine Cottage is located in the Ballard/Fremont/Phinney Ridge neighborhood, about 4 miles north of downtown Seattle. It is within walking distance of many restaurants and Woodland Park Zoo. There is easy bus access to downtown (Pike Place market), Seattle Center (Science Center, EMP) and the University of Washington.
