About the Property
Room for 4 persons, close to beach and town, feels like home
Guests can enjoy the petite, solar-heated swimming pool which is surrounded by a lush tropical garden patio with table and chairs and a gas barbeque. This area can be accessed from the kitchen, bedroom or by an outside entrance. Guests also have a private, secure front entrance to their rental, separate from the owners' entrance. With the owners onsite from October through June, routine maintenance is always available and Richard and Mary Ann are there to take care of any needs you may have. In all, guests can enjoy 950 square feet of living space and feel totally private.

Rates are subject to change until reservation is confirmed. Our cancellation policy is as follows: Up to 30 days before the reservation date, we will refund the deposit and/or balance (if paid), minus a 10% cancellation fee. Between 30-15 days before the reservation date, we will refund 50% of the balance paid, minus a 10% cancellation fee. Within 15 days of the reservation date, unfortunately, we won't be able to offer a refund.

Car: Not Necessary
Sailor's Rest is located in the north end of La Cruz, just 3 blocks from the beach and 5 minutes from the central plaza and entrance to our world class marina. The Marina Riviera Nayarit is home to over 300 boats, including the local fishing pangas which bring fresh seafood to our shores every day. A wonderful fish market located at the marina provides a variety of vendors selling the local catches including dorado, tuna and sierra, as well as octopus, shellfish and more. It is a treat to explore these markets often for the best of fresh seafood the area has to offer.
We are close to many fine restaurants, several of which are available for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offering a variety of international cuisine, as well as the wonderful local fare. Excellent live music is also available in many several nights per week.
La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is only 12 miles north of the airport and is easily accessible by the local buses and taxis. Once you are here, it is a delightful town to explore by walking or biking. One of the local features is the wonderful Sunday market available from October through the first part of May. Growing in reputation over the years, the market is located along the winding walkway next to the marina and draws artists and craftsmen from all over the area. Guests are treated to live music as they browse and can also find a delicious selection of foods and local produce. A smaller version of this market is available in the central plaza just north of the mercado.
Local surf shops rent surfboards and kiteboards and your host, Richard, offers sailing excursions on the Bay of Banderas aboard his 32 foot, sloop-rigged sailboat, the Que Sera Sera. Boogie boards are available free of charge for our guests.

About the owner: Owners Richard and Mary Ann are originally from the Portland Oregon area and moved to Mexico 15 years ago, locating in Sayulita just north of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. For 11 years we owned and operated Macondo Italian Restaurant and Bungalows and sold the business in 2011. Both of us have a passion for sailing and decided to relocate to La Cruz where there is a beautiful marina very close to the home we eventually purchased. Richard loves is to take guests sailing on the Bay of Banderas on his 32 foot sloop Que Sera Sera as often as time will allow. And...any guests who love to play cribbage just mention the word and we'll play with you--another passion.
Why the Owner Chose La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Nayarit, Mexico:
One deciding factor for us was the proximity to the marina where their sailboat is located. The property itself is conveniently near attractions, restaurants and shops, but is still in a quiet area of the pueblo. It is situated near a clean, uncrowded beach and every day there are wonderful ocean breezes. A walk to the center of town only takes 5 minutes. Living spaces are generous for both guests and us and, best of all, guests have private use of a petite swimming pool and garden patio. Being near our Mexican neighbors is a plus because it makes us feel closer to the community.

One of the attractions for us when we purchased Sailor's Rest is that it is located in a wonderful, friendly Mexican neighborhood, near three different schools. It is impossible not to practice one's Spanish. Yet, it is private and provides a delightful home for us and, we hope, for our guests. The beach is clean and uncrowded, the marina and services are nearby, we are surrounded by beautiful trees and a variety of birds and then there are those delicious breezes.......
