A home away from home; 2 story house tucked in a quiet secluded cul-de-sac neighborhood only a ten minute walk from the pier and beach. Great location away from the loud train and night life music; kids can ride their bikes on the dead end street. There is also free street parking for visitors, along with the 4 spaces to park in the driveway. The grocery store, pharmacy, bank, farm stand, etc.are all within walking distance. Sorry, I do not offer a fire pit; fires are not permitted. All four bedrooms have AC.
This property, only rented out weekly during the summer, is privately owned and managed by the residing owner.
Cathi Waterman purchased this house in 2007
Location, location, location is the key. This neighborhood is a stones throw away from all of the summer activities, and is very quiet and family oriented at the same. Kids can ride their bikes in front of the house in the cul-de-sac, while you relax in a lounge chair or hammock. It's a 10 min. walk to the grocery store or 12 min. to the beach.
After a day in the sun, one can chill and relax in a lawn chair or on a hammock. There's a stream and marsh behind the neighborhood, which is the home to many birds and chirping peepers. This is a very relaxing secluded neighborhood.
We had a great time at Cathi's home. We were 2 families who stayed here, 2 couples and 2 toddlers which worked out great. 3/4 bedrooms had A/c units in the windows, but in all honesty the beach breeze was so cool, we rarely used them. One great thing was that there were nice touches that you would normally only find in a hotel, like fresh bars of soap in each bathroom, hand towels wrapped in little ribbons.
Things that I would have found helpful to know beforehand were what was physically in the house- there were dishes, pots/pans, silverware, but only 1 sharp knife to use for chopping, no sharp everyday dinner knives. No blender, laundry detergent, or board games (things I wish I brought). She also had a few upright beach chairs and hammocks to use, which was nice (I should have left mine at home).
Cathi’s description of her home was spot on and she was so very helpful in giving us information about the area. She is a very pleasant person to deal with.
The house was well equipment with everything we needed; & just far enough off of the beaten path to be quiet and peaceful at night. A very well stocked grocery store & a great farm stand are within walking distance (located at the top of the street).
It’s about a ten minute walk from the house to the beach and the amusement area.
If you’re a Duncan Donut coffee fan, there's one located in the center of town, just before the beach.
My entire family had a very relaxing vacation and we would definitely want to rent this home again for vacations in Old Orchard Beach.
This was the perfect place for our 3 families to stay. There was amble room, very clean and the owner (Cathie) was very accomadating and down to earth. She had everything there that we needed and more. Thanks for the use of the boogie boards and the beach chairs. We also loved the wagon, that made our trips to the beach a breeze. We were in walking distance to all the action and yet far enough that it was peaceful when we came home. Great location and accomadations. We would definetly rebook this place for our next trip down. Thanks again Cathie.
