About the property

A relaxing, getaway place on the lake in the woods

Visit Lake Guntersville, one of the most well known bass fishing lakes in the US. Located right off of Hwy 79 between Guntersville and Scottsboro, the cabin is close to the numerous fishing tournaments at Goose Pond Colony and Waterfront Grocery. Mink Creek boat launch is about a 5 minute drive away. The lakefront cabin has great fishing, duck hunting, swimming and boating for a relaxing getaway in the woods. Perfect for any season. Large dock for tying up your boat, swimming, catching a beautiful sunset or just watching the world go by. Electrical hook ups available at the dock. *** Please note there are about 50 steps(with railing) from the parking area to the house if steps would be an issue. The lake is about 10 steps from the house to the dock. Enjoy close up views of the water and wildlife on the screened in porch and large patio. Take a nap in a hammock or swing on the lakeside swing. This rustic home is reminiscent of old times at the lake. Large great room lives big with kitchen/living room combination in a relaxed setting. Shop in the quaint city of Scottsboro at Unclaimed Baggage or visit Cathedral Caverns, the Walls of Jericho or Space and Rocket Museum in Huntsville, all within a short 30 minute drive.

About Gail Kimrey

I grew up spending weekends at Guntersville Lake and have wonderful memories on the lake with my family fishing, boating, swimming and just hanging out. Wanted my children and family to enjoy the same experiences that I had and for us to make many memories for years to come.

Gail Kimrey purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Gail Kimrey chose Scottsboro

Deep water(8-9 ft) for swimming and boating was a priority for us as well as being close to the main channel. The house is located close to the water, you feel like you are right by it from the house. You can hear the waves lapping at the sea wall at night, watch herons dip down and catch a fish and see fisherman catch fish after fish right by your dock. It is 45 minutes from our home, so a day trip, weekend trip or all week are all convenient. It is also close to the city of Scottsboro, so that a quick trip to town if you need Walmart or the grocery store doesn't take all day. Easy to find off the highway, but you feel miles away from home.

What makes this cabin unique

From the first time we walked into the cabin, I knew this was the one. We wanted a cabin that everyone could enjoy and not worry messing up but would enable us to sit and relax and enjoy the company of those around us. Everyone comments on how cozy and relaxing it is--they don't want to leave. From the screened in porch, to the stone patio to the large dock, there is a space for everyone to find their spot;.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time and REALLY enjoyed the cabin. Much rest and relaxation - which was just what I (we) needed.

We found some kind of large green/white tree frog - and also ran into a few armadillo's -- I think we saw muskrats - not sure what else it would have been. And we heard coyote across the lake one evening.

The unclaimed baggage center didn't have anything we couldn't live without ! We did go to Cathedral Caverns and the Sauty Cave

THANK YOU!

Hidden Gem!

We absolutely love this place. We didn't want to leave. It is perfect retreat for my little family. We really did enjoyed ourselves. We didn't want to leave. Everything you wanted or needed to do, was right there. If you wanted to go into town, it's not that far away.

I just had surgery before I got there, so it was a perfect place for me to heal but still stay active without over doing it. Everything is so comfortable. From the furniture in the house to the outside living space furniture (both porch and patio area). It is absolutely relaxing and peaceful.

The view from the big picture windows in the house over looking the lake and mountains is absolutely beautiful anytime of the day. And can be seen from every part of house. We love the open living space. Same with the outdoor patio area. The dock is a perfect size to lounge out and relax while sun bathing, fishing, swimming and getting in and out of the kayaks and canoe. My 11 year old daughter had the best time and dog absolutely love it there too.

We definitely recommend this property. Very clean inside and outside. Gail is the best and is always within communication reach.

Thank you Gail for everything. We are grateful for you sharing your lovely lake home with us. And we definitely plan to come back next summer.

Just Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a long weekend at the Cozy Cabin on the Lake and what a wonderful weekend it was! The views from inside the cabin cant be beat and you are literally just a few steps away from the dock and the lake. Even though it's November, we lucked out and had beautiful weather so we spent quite a bit of time outside. During the day we fished (caught quite a few bass!) and rode in the canoe. Oh, and the hammock, it was so relaxing just laying there and watching my husband and son fishing from the dock. At night, we sat out by the fire pit and enjoyed the serenity of our surroundings.

The kitchen is very well stocked. Everything we needed was provided. There are also plenty of games, books, and movies to enjoy your time indoors. The owners have literally thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable and easy as possible.

One word of caution, if you have knee problems or mobility issues, the steps to the cabin could be a problem for you. They are quite steep. Fortunately it wasn't a big issue for us but we definitely feel like we got our workouts in!

We couldn't have asked for a better weekend. If you're looking for a great place to escape to and enjoy quality time with your family or friends this is the place for you. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy!
