About Susan Gudgell
We have been on Orcas Island for many decades (in fact Wally grew up here!), so are long-time locals. We can suggest not only the most popular travel adventures, but will also share little know gems on island backroads.
Susan Gudgell purchased this Condo in 1990
Why Susan Gudgell chose Eastsound
We purchased this property for love of the historic Porter Building, located next door. For years this portion was vacant, occupied by a parking lot and dumpsters. We dreamed of beautifying the shoreline, dedicating a beach access to the public and building stairs to the water. At last we've completed our vision, completing the 'Main Street Station.' SeaStar Lofts fulfills our dream of welcoming others to our favorite place in the world. We've tried to supply our guests with all we personally look for in fine travel accommodations.
What makes this Condo unique
As we mention above, these are the only accommodations located on the actual shore in Eastsound Village. We provide a full living experience, with kitchens, washer/dryers, and everything you need for either a short visit or extended stay. Every convenience is just steps away, yet you can access the beach right next to the building to enjoy the beautiful views and abundant wildlife.

Will go again
Everything about it was sweet--I like the option of staying in, making my own breakfast, and reading in the airy, sunlit space or walking around town, shopping, and eating. My only challenge was the loud (sometimes scary) garage-type sliding door in the space below early in the night. Even with that, I'd go back!
Hub of Activity in Eastsound
Well located, laid out, stocked, tastefully decorated large studio on main drag of charming Eastsound. Delightful gas fireplace warms space beautifully during chilly weather. Easy parking around the corner, with plenty of places close by for excursions. Peer out windows to bustling Main Street's bakery, book store, shops, restaurants and more. Hear the sounds of a vibrant town. Treat yourself to a visit in the Orcas Island Historical Museum's original island log cabins, and don't miss the tantalizing aromas and flavors of the Brown Bear bakery and Rose's restaurant and shop!
This was the perfect space for my daughter and I. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and to cook a big dinner for family who live on the island. Close to everything!
Lovely spot in Eastsound
Spinnaker Studio is a great spot in downtown Eastsound. It's super comfortable, well equipped, very convenient, and a lovely spot to hang out.
Clean and comfortable. Great location.
My second stay in this room. Very comfortable. Has everything you need.
Great location, light and restful space. Very comfortable.
We stayed 3 nights with our 2 kids and dog, and it was so nice to be able to walk to everything in town, and have a very comfortable and well-equipped place to come back to. The grocery store nearby was a real plus when traveling with kids.
Orcas is the 'gem' of the San Juans, centrally located in one of the most spectacularly beautiful areas in the country. Here you'll find an abundance of wildlife and lots of outdoor activities, as well as world class restaurants and shops.
