About Peggy Gleason
My husband and I have lived in Oregon for 20 years. Paul is retired and I work for a non profit agency in our home in Salem. We are outdoor enthusiasts and love our time spent at The Moose House - whether we're enjoying our boat out on the lake, hiking a nearby trail, or just relaxing inside watching a movie or reading a book. Unfortunately, we live 200 miles from The Moose House, so we aren't able to enjoy it as much as we would like. We are considering retirement there, but until that time, we love to share it with others who enjoy it as much as we do.
Peggy Gleason purchased this Cabin in 2000
Why Peggy Gleason chose Hoodsport
We first saw Lake Cushman when Paul was getting certified to scuba dive in the Hood Canal late in November of 1999. I drove up to the Lake to find a place to hike and fell in love with it. A few months later we made a trip up there to look at cabins for sale. We felt it would be a great getaway location for our family as well as a possible retirement community.
What makes this Cabin unique
We looked at many cabins, but chose The Moose House because of it's very close proximity to the Lake and Community Park, large and fairly private lot, high vaulted ceilings, big picture windows and the overall feel of home. We have never regretted our decision. The Moose House has been a vacation rental since the year 2000 and has become the most well known and best loved rental in the area. Many of our guests return year after year and think of this cabin as their own home. Our cabin is the perfect home for our large collection of mooses, and children love trying to count them all. This home is lovingly cared for by our nearby managers and always kept very clean and well appointed. Our guests come to our cabin to celebrate many special occasions including honeymoons, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and one couple even returned to have their wedding there. We've had guests from all over the country and the world, and even a famous movie star! Book your weekend getaway or memorable vacation now and become one of the hundreds of very happy Moose House Alumni!

So beautiful & relaxing!
My family and I loved the cabin, the location & the property. I am raving about this cabin to everyone I know! The Owners and Managers were very helpful to us when needed....Absolutely loved the back wall of windows with the amazing view of the trees!
The Moose House was exactly what we were hoping for when we planned our trip - the firepit, the grill, the setting in the woods, all of it was just right.
Best little getaway home in the PNW.
Was very impressed from the moment we arrived. I highly recommend the Mousse house to anyone who wants some time to get away from the city.
Cody cabin in wooded neighborhood
This was the perfect weekend getaway. The cabin looks out into a wooded landscape, the perfect way to enjoy your coffee in the morning. We enjoyed the short drive to the lake and many hiking options. Bring groceries to the cabin. The kitchen is stocked with basic seasonings for a simple culinary experience. While the house heats perfectly, we also brought a couple down comforters and found them useful for couch time or to accompany the quilts. Peggy is also great to work with! Enjoy this place!
Thank you for your nice review! I just want to confirm with others who may be considering The Moose House that the Lake and Community Park are also a very short walk down the trail from the back of the cabin. Also, we encourage renters to bring whatever makes them feel comfortable, but we do have plenty of extra blankets and quilts available if needed.
Charming cabin in a great location
We do a yearly trip to a cabin with friends and this was by far our favorite cabin we have stayed at. It was charming and the location was great. Very close to Lake Cushman and the view out the windows of the trees is very serene. Overall the cabin was very clean and had everything we needed to cook our meals.
We really wnjoyed our stay and are looking at making a return trip again in the future.
