Coyote Cabin - A Luxury Mountain Retreat - Why Rough it?

Bedrooms 3
Space 2,400 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 - 5 nights

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Coyote Cabin is a beautiful mountain retreat nestled in the woods just minutes from Black Hawk and Central City. Relax in luxury while enjoying spectacular panoramic views from all rooms, the 900 foot deck or spacious loft and upper deck. Full wifi, flat panel TV's and satellite service will all premium channles, on demand, etc. Full phone service, long distance no charge.

Uniquely designed to maximize views of the Continental Divide’s snow-capped peaks and valley, Coyote Cabin rises from the forest on three separate levels to provide thrilling views and everything needed for groups of 8 to 10 persons. Our guests have all been more than happy with the Coyote Cabin. We strive to provide the best quality furniture, linen, cookware and appliances. Beware of other properties that boast a 'rustic' experience, you will likely find them old, drafty and disappointing. If you want to relax in comfort and luxury, and be close to everything, this is the place.

You say you want privacy? The Cabin is located on a heavily wooded, five acre 'view lot' just off a County maintained road. Due to the steep grade, this was an expensive property to build (we purchased from the builder who built this for his own home), and which is the reason why it has spectacular views. You won't be bothered by hikers or off roaders as we do not back to the National Forest, but are just minutes away. No dangerous river nearby either, so your children can safely explore our woods. Abundant wildlife onsite, as pictured, still requires common sense and reasonable precaution - you are in the Rocky Mountains after all - at 9000 feet!

Coyote's main level includes a great room with leather reclining furniture, cathedral ceilings/windows and gas fireplace, a large dining area with 8 person Mission style dinning table, and a fully equipped kitchen with breakfast bar. Two bedrooms and two full bathrooms are also located on the main level. Its large upper level loft includes a huge custom U-shaped sofa with pull out sleeper, a double futon, a private TV area and an adjoining balcony. Send the kids to the loft and forget about it!

The lower level features a another private deck, wood burning stove and pool table in the recreation room, one bedroom, bathroom and laundry room. A dishwasher, microwave oven, refrigerator, 4 satellite connected TV’s, DVD/VCR’s, stereo, all linen, cookware, two king size pillow top beds and one queen bed are all included. High speed DSL internet service is provided at no cost to our guests. BBQ grill is provided.

Area attractions are plentiful. In addition to the 22 casinos just 7.5 miles away by Highway 119 (or just 3 miles by County maintained Dory Hill Road), Gilpin County’s new 2.8 million dollar recreation center is just 1.5 miles away and features an Olympic size pool, indoor running track, full weight room and numerous family oriented activities.

4 miles down Highway 46 is Golden Gate Canyon State Park, which is renowned for its trails and public fishing lakes. Of course, Cutthroat and Rainbow Trout are also found in nearby Clear Creek and Wedge Reservoir above Central City.

Snow skiing is only 30 minutes away at Lake Eldora; 45 minutes to Loveland; 40 minutes to A-Basin, and Keystone; 60 minutes to Breckenridge; 65 minutes to Copper Mountain and about one hour to Vail. Access to over 500 miles of local back-road trails for off-roading and dirt bikes are just minutes away.

Night time dining and entertainment is found in Central City and Black Hawk. Ameristar Casino (3 miles away) has live music on weekends and large screen TV's for viewing sporting events.

In the summer, famous Central City Opera House is open. Shopping and movies are available in nearby Nederland, Idaho Springs, Evergreen, Bergen Park and Golden. The Base Camp convenience and liquor store is just one mile away. Of course, Denver is just one hour away and is packed with sporting events, (four major sports teams!), downtown restaurants, shopping and night clubs. For a slower pace, take the Peak to Peak Highway (119) to nearby Rollinsville, Nederland and Estes Park. If you have camping friends visiting, a Full service campground is just two miles away.

About Jeff Kelley

We are Colorado natives and love to spend time in the mountains.

Jeff Kelley purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Jeff Kelley chose Front Range

We bought our property after looking at many others on the market in many differnt locations in Gilpin County. We bought the Coyote Cabin directly from the builder who built this house for himself. It is extremely well built, on a 'view lot' which provides some of the best views of the mountains we have ever seen, and just minutes to Black Hawk and Central City. My wife and I have 'tweaked' the cabin in every way possible to make it seem like it is truly a 'home away from home' for our guests, as well as ourselves.

What makes this cabin unique

This house is very comfortable and its three levels allows for large groups to have their own space to play pool, dine, or watch TV in the private loft. An oversized two car garage and ample parking is always apprecaited by our guests. Our house is ready to go with alll paper products, linen, soaps and silver and cookware.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were so fortunate to be able to take a family vacation with our extended

family this year (6 adults + 4 kids!) Coyote Cabin was the perfect place for

us-plenty of room for everyone. The kids had a great time hanging out on the

decks and up in the loft, hiking around, the views were magnificent and we loved

the peace and quiet (well, as much quiet as you can have with 4 kiddos). Coyote

Cabin and a Colorado adventure was just what we needed!

This was our second time staying in the cabin and it was great. As soon as we got into Denver it was snowing and the kids had a great time playing in the snow. Copper Mountain was a quick trip so the kids could go tubing. With so much nearby, great views from the house and a very nice and clean house to stay in, we will be back again!! We would definitely recommend this wonderful place to everyone! Thank you!!

Comfortable Retreat

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is tucked away on a peaceful hillside with beautiful mountain views. The cabin is cozy and well maintained with easy access to skiing and hiking. One caution - buy groceries before you get there. The nearest store is 30-minutes away.

Owner's Response: Thank you James. We are glad you and your family enjoyed our Coyote Cabin and hope you return soon. Other than some nearby convenience stores, the closest grocery stores are found in Golden, Idaho Springs or Nederland. It's nice to me close to what the Colorado Rockies have to offer but not so close to civilization that you have to wonder if your on vacation!

Wonderful Family Vacation Saved By Coyote Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had planned for months, a family vacation with 6 adults and 2 teenagers in Key West, Florida. Hurricane Mathew hit and we had to change plans less than a week out.

While driving to Colorado, we were able to book this unit at the last minute. After so many other owners turned us down, the owner's of Coyote Cabin accepted our reservation. They were so nice and helpful to work with.

When we arrived at the house the housekeeper was still there. She had set the house up to be so inviting, including having some awesome tunes playing and showed us around and gave us advice on places to visit and things to do.

The house was perfect for us. The bedrooms were spacious for 3 adult couples. 2 bedrooms on the main floor. One bedroom on the bottom floor. The loft was perfect for the 2 teenagers. The beds and linens are top of the line.

The views from the house are unbelievable. The house is built to make the most of all of the views. The kitchen is well stocked. Everything was as described, if not better.

This is place is awesome and I would recommend it to anyone!

Great home base for seeing lots of sights in Colorado.

Serene, Beautiful and Owners that are great to work with

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home, amazing surroundings and a no hassle approach from the owners who helped with silly stuff like making sure we had the right directions, checking to see if we needed anything and giving us shopping advice for food and sundries.

I dont write many reviews but I recommend this rental if you are going to this amazing part of the country

Can't wait to go back!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay last summer was amazing and fun filled. The cabin is amazing and well set up for multiple couples or large family, clean, roomy and modern. It is located on a plot that makes you feel like you are in the tree tops with breathtaking vistas from inside and from on the huge deck. The owner was very helpful from booking through departure. We will absolutely be back soon! I highly recommend this property!

Great Experience at The Coyote Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I wanted to take our family on a vacation to celebrate our

upcoming 25th anniversary. Since we have a son attending Colorado State

University and both he and our daughter were on Spring Break the week of March

12 we chose to travel to Colorado. On advice from a friend I searched on the

VRBO site for a cabin and found Coyote Cabin. The place was perfect for my

husband and I, our 3 adult children and our oldest son's girlfriend. We did a

lot of hiking in Golden Gate Canyon State Park, went skiing at Eldora, drove

into Golden for lunch a couple of days, and spent a couple of evenings at the

Ameristar in BlackHawk. The setting at Coyote Cabin is breathtaking and when

not out and about in the mountains we enjoyed eating and hanging out together in

the cabin. We would definitely choose to stay here again.
