About Ruth Wiley

This cottage has been in the family since it was built in the 50's. Originally built as a hunting cabin, it has been expanded a few times over the years but still has it's 1950's charm. None of the family lives in Michgan anymore but we still love to come to the cottage once or twice a year. We hope you will enjoy it the rest of the summer!

Ruth Wiley purchased this cottage in 1955

Why Ruth Wiley chose Lewiston

This property is especially great for young families because there is plenty of shallow sandy water to play in. There is great 'fishing for kids' I call it 'kerplunking'!! You can walk or boat over to the canal and toss your line in and catch a little 4 inch bass or sunfish in a matter of minutes. The kids love it! Of course we throw them back so daddy can catch them when the grow up :-) The charming town of Lewiston is about three miles from the cottage. We have a full service grocery store for all you needs. We have several great restaurants if you don't want to cook. The bigger town of Gaylord is a quick 30 minutes away if you need a little more shopping. We have some great golf courses in the area also.

What makes this cottage unique

Our cottage is one of the few cottages on the lake with a sleepover boathouse - Even the McMansions cannot build this close to the water. Our cottage is situated on the 'best' side of the lake. We have a sandy bottom which makes swimming off the shore so much more enjoyable.

Relaxing at it's finest

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time on West Twin Lake and it was a perfect setting for our family and dogs. Loved the peacefulness of the place and rustic feel as well. We hope to make this an annual trip. Ruth definitely has everything you need to enjoy the home and outdoors as well. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate so we were unable to have a fire in the pit at night. Maybe next year.

Lots of room inside and the sandy bottom lakefront was awesome.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week at the Wileys. The house had lots of space for everyone. The fishing was not so great, but then again thats why its called "fishing" not catching. The sandy bottom lake front was great as was the dock.

We will definitely be back.

Great getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The name of this home, Rustic Charm, perfectly describes this home. This nostalgic cabin is in perfect condition and updated enough to make it extremely comfortable. Sunrises and sunsets are beautiful looking across the lake. The early morning and evening sounds of the loons are memorable. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
