Why Sara Thompson chose Cape May Point
Our grandparents bought this house in the 1940's and it has since been passed down through 2 generations. We both have many special memories of the house and Cape May Point - family weddings, anniversaries, holidays were all spent at Lakeside Lodge. Many of our renters have been returning to Lakeside Lodge long enough for it be incorporated into their own family history. It's a great house for large families or multiple families. We hope that Lakeside Lodge can be a part your your family's history!
What makes this House unique
Lakeside Lodge is a very unique victorian property. It was one of the original houses when Cape May Point was first incorporated as 'Sea Grove'. in the mid-late 1800's. On the outside is a wrap-around porch overlooking Lake Lily, The porch is a great place to spend a lazy afternoon reading a book, watching swans take flight or chatting with friends. There is also a third floor balcony that gives you an excellent view of the ocean as well as the rest of the Point. Inside is a 30x30 great room with three separate sitting areas. Great for playing cards or board games or in the colder months, sitting by the fireplace. In 2012, the kitchen was remodeled with new appliances and cabinetry.

The perfect house for a family reunion
Our four children and five of our grandchildren traveled from four states last week for a family reunion on Lake Lilly. We all loved this beautifully furnished, historic Victorian house which was perfectly suited for our family of eleven. It had everything we could have asked for including a well equipped, updated kitchen, a screened in porch and a great room with more than enough room for us all to gather in the evening. We relaxed on the front porch listening to the birds, we walked to the light house, drove into town for lunch and to Sunset Beach for the sunset. We especially loved the resident Lake Lilly swan who entertained us by endlessly chasing two Canada geese from the small island where we spied with our binoculars a second swan resting on a well concealed nest. We took videos of the drama from our camera phones which involved lots of honking and splashing and puffed up feathers. We have already recommended this home to several of our friends who have scattered family members like us. It is truly the perfect house for a family reunion.
Amazing house for a beach vacation
This house far exceeded our expectations. It has great character, it feels extremely spacious and is perfect for a large group. The house has high-end appliances in an updated kitchen, antique furniture and modern bathrooms. The location was ideal--right on a peaceful lake but close to all the amenities of the area. We rented bikes and enjoyed daily rides into the more congested cape may (only 12 minutes!). We biked to the beautiful beach here in 3 minutes. There is nothing negative to report. Best place we've rented in years.
What a treat!!!
I stayed here for several nights while in Cape May to watch the Spring Red Knot Migration and the Horse Shoe Crab Spawning. What a magnificent home!!! We all felt like we were provided a great gift just to be able to stay at this home. It is absolutely wonderful and the location is perfect. How wonderful to lie down on a comfortable couch on the front porch while it was raining and watch the birds in the pond across the street. I kept thinking of the Annie Lenox song about hearing the "Rain upon My Window". The owners are as lovely as the home. Stay here. Treat yourself.
Still a Great Place to Bird
The birding group from Ocean County rented the house for 3 nights this year during the fall migration 2015, and continued to have a wonderful time. The layout and location of the house is just perfect for our needs, and everyone had a marvelous time, again. This year there were even more of us to enjoy the front porch and great room with fireplace. Looking forward to doing it again in 2016!
Great Place for Birding
A birding group from Ocean County rented the house for 2 days during the fall migration 2014. What a great location; we could bird for hours just from the spacious porch. Within walking distance of the Cape May Lighthouse State Park and their hawkwatch, or just walking around Lily Lake, it was perfect. Plenty of room for our group of 10 to put all our birding and photography gear and eating in the dinning room. Charming old house, but modern kitchen.
Great stay!
This is a lovely, interesting and extremely comfortable house that is perfect for a big group. Spacious and nicely appointed bedrooms, newly refurbished and well stocked kitchen and a new bathroom/shower on the first floor and a wonderful wrap around porch to spend quiet days and evenings looking over the lake. A real gem!
Thanks Jeanne - glad you enjoyed your stay!
