Victorian era house and gardens near the harbor and downtown

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,400 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

three bedroom, two bathroom, parlor, dining room, sitting room library.

This Rockland house is close enough to smell the salt in an ocean breeze. It's an easy walk to town. You could board a schooner at the end of the street. But maybe you might stay home and read a book under the giant sugar maple tree. The kitchen next to the dining room has everything to make a lobster dinner. The three bedrooms ( king, queen, full) have Egyptian cotton sheets and good mattresses. Two bathrooms. All in all, a gentle space to relax and enjoy summer weather. There's internet and a tv.

There's a barn in the back which has my yard tools and a studio.

About Debby Atwell

The owner, Debby Atwell is an author and illustrator of children's books. Now retired, she is studying mindfulness meditation and can tell you about places in town to do yoga and to meditate.

Debby Atwell purchased this house in 87

Why Debby Atwell chose Rockland

My house will surprise you in a good way... I bought the house thirty years ago and have worked all along to bring it to modern efficiency and ease while preserving theoriginal feel of the 1900's in Maine. I like that I can see the water from my street and that I can hear fog horns in a storm.

What makes this house unique

The yard is hedged and fenced, so one feels protected, but is not sufficient to hold a vigorous and exploring dog ! You can visit and explore the highlights of Rockland on foot. you could even walk out the front door and walk down the street to board a schooner.

Make your day and stay here

  • 5 of 5

What a great house and so close to all things Rockland and so many other Maine Attractions.

This property is so unique with many artistic features that are interesting to behold. Layout is good and all rooms are spacious. Pears on tree in the yard were an extra treat. Debby is a warm and hospitable host who takes time to listen and make sure you have all you need to have a great Maine experience. Would certainly stay here again.

This charming 1910 house is filled with antiques and books in every room!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time in Debby's house. It is comfortable and delightfully decorated. We are readers, and appreciated having many books to choose from on the one rainy day. Debby was a welcoming and gracious hostess. We'd love to return some day!

Wonderful visit in Rockland, charming home with lots of character and ambiance.

  • 5 of 5

Our visit to Maine was fantastic! Very seldom do you have all the stars lined up in that there was beautiful weather, excellent restaurants and a great place to stay. Owner, Debby, greeted us upon arrival, her rental is very comfortable and perfect for four. It was an excellent home base, comforting to come home to after visiting and exploring other areas of Maine. Rockland itself has much to offer, especially enjoyed two restaurants, Primo and Cafe Miranda! If you are looking for a well kept, great location, and rich in art and character home, this is it.

Beautiful Victorian well cared for but not too fussy

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the Oriel Davies house on Pleasant Street. It is a beautiful home, well maintained but not to fussy to be comfortable. It has everything you could want and is just a few blocks from the harbor. The yard is lovely showing the care it is regularly given. We had lunch and dinner outside just to enjoy the gardens and the peaceful setting. It is a great location also to visit other towns in addition to Rockland.

This is a beautifully maintained property that is walking distance to downtown Rockland.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at the Orel Davies house and felt at home immediately. Debby made every effort to make sure that the house was clean and well maintained. Her green thumb shows in creating a beautiful garden along with her artistic abilities on the walls in the interiors. She checked in a couple of times to see if we needed anything.

The arts in Rockland are fabulous and the location is easy access so other towns including a two hour drive to Acadia National Park. Overall, we had a lovely week and we enjoyed Maine and meeting the people very much.

Wonderful location and fun house

  • 5 of 5

We so much enjoyed our stay in Rockland at Debbie's house. The location is perfect, a few blocks to the bay and a few blocks to town and the Andrew Wyeth museum. The house was so comfortable for all five of us. Thank you so much Debbie.
