Our family of 4 spent 2 weeks here and really enjoyed our stay. The house is a very short walk to Second Beach which is great during the busy summer season. It is just a short drive to First and Third Beaches, as well as to Newport. The house itself is very comfortable and clean. Sharon was wonderfully helpful and friendly. We would all recommend it for a lovely get away.
We enjoyed having this "beach loving" family as guests. They took full advantage of all the great beaches and places to explore and play while relaxing and enjoying the house! They were low maintenance and respectful of the house - left it clean and neat. So glad they had great weather and fun. We'd welcome them back anytime!
Comfortable and private home away from home
Stayed here for a long weekend with my daughter and small grandchildren for my other daughter's wedding. House was perfect - private yard with trees for climbing. Front and back porches to spread out. Comfortable beds. Air-conditioning and easy walk to the best beach. Sharon was lovely and accommodating. Looking forward to going back next summer when we have more time to enjoy the beach.
very nice (temporary) home away from home
We stayed here with our two late teen daughters and their friends, for a total of 6 of us. Sharon was extremely helpful before and during our stay. She gave us pointers for everything from restaurants to best parking areas for Newport. The property is on a very quiet street with a great front and back yard, and even has a sliver of water visible through the trees. The weeping birch tree in front is beautiful. The house is on the older side, but well-maintained and comfortable. We got the garage door openers, so were able to park inside and avoid a hot car.
The bedrooms all had comfortable beds, great air conditioners, as well as a larger unit in the family room. There is a fold-out futon in the sunroom, as well. Our only complaint about the bedrooms was that the shades did very little to block the sun in the morning, so we all tended to wake at 5:30 AM. If we did not have teens, that would have not been so bad.
The 2 bathrooms are small, but perfectly usable, with the master having a tub/shower. The washer and dryer were very helpful. Wifi worked well.
The kitchen is VERY well stocked, with pots, pans, cook's tools, plates, silverware, nice gas grill outside (did not use). They keep nonperishables / staples in the cabinets (and butter / condiments in the fridge), as well. Not sure if those were all left by former renters or not, but we appreciated them.
The location is fairly convenient. It is a 10 minute walk to (the swimming part of) Second Beach, and 20 minute walk to First Beach. The girls walked into Newport one day, as well, a good 2 miles - Google says 40 minutes. Based on tat, I would guess the start of Cliff Walk is 30 minutes. The house has a great "beach cart" in which you can pile the provided boogie boards, etc and shlep it all comfortably.
great house - great location - great hosts
I stayed at this home for the week when I was sailing with 4 other friends. The location was really good- it was quiet and walking distance from a beautiful expansive beach where we took our am walks. The kitchen was well equipped - we had gatherings with other sailors and made wonderful dinners ---breakfasts with foods we bought at the market enabling us to spend the day on the boat and then returning to Sharon's nice comfy home. The washer/dryer was iso convenient ....I would highly recommend this property to anyone. Sharon was so easy to work with and would do anything to make the stay successful. We even got a flat tire there and Sharon sent us to an honest mechanic. Five of us stayed there and we each loved it. Go for it!!!! Make sure you see the bird sanctuary. It is so pristine - it almost feels like a holy place.
Great Family House in Nice Location
Nice clean house with well appointed kitchen. Easy walk to second beach which was great for the kids. Easy drive to Newport to shop and see the Mansions yet NOT in the middle of all the traffic and noise that comes with Newport. On a quite street. Great tree in the front yard that our boys loved climbing in. Gas grill for outdoor cooking was GREAT. Best grill I've ever used. Three bedrooms with three queen size beds which is good for three couples but a bit more tricky if you have three teenagers who all want their own beds. Owners were friendly and available if needed. Highly recommended for families.
My new hubby and I spent our wedding weekend at this home. We could not have asked for a nicer time away. The house is incredibly well stocked and maintained, spacious, inviting and cozy.
The owners go out of their way to be accommodating - it was like meeting old friends!
This was a delightful, easy going couple who shared their beach wedding with us! They were great to have stay and took great care of our home. We'd welcome them back anytime!
