Why Rosa Morgan chose San Jacinto
As a child visiting Galveston on summer vacations I fell in love with the beach and the architectural gems of the city. Now I'm the proud owner of my own Victorian house and love discovering what this great city has to offer.

Nice and quaint
The mermaid cottage was perfect for 2 people. It was secure and very peaceful. I really loved the garden in the back for reading and meditation. The bed was really comfortable and it had all your basic needs. The bathroom is really small and it may be time to wash curtains due to old smell when you enter. Other than that it was great!
Clean, homey and a great location.
We loved staying here! Everything we needed was there and it was all so cute! Rosa was easy to rent from. Our stay was delightful! We will be back!
Cool, tucked-away, studio-style room that was in walking distance to the beach and some good restaurants. Checking in and out was very straightforward and no hassle. My wife and I were in town for a weekend wedding and it worked out great!
Don't stay in a hotel!
If you want to stay in a clean, roomy, comfortable, private, place in a great location this is it. We appreciated the host Rosa. She is very nice and helpful if needed .We brought our bicycles and everything is accessible from this place, The beach.Pleasure pier, The Strand, Opera house, The ferry to Bolivar, all the touristy restaurants and also several very tasty good places to eat that Rosa can fill you in on. With the money you save by staying here you can get a good breakfast at Starcatz and not have to listen to the party crowd slamming doors all night in a hotel. As pleasant as this place is, Galveston Is a great place to get around in so get out and explore this island.
My girlfriend and I stayed at Mermaid Cottage for a long weekend while in town for a wedding. The place was absolutely perfect for the two of us. It has a nice open floor plan with a very comfortable bed and couch. The house also has a nice and very private backyard with some benches and chairs to relax in. The cottage is close to the beach and downtown, but not right in the center of all the commotion, so it is quiet which is nice. There is plenty of free parking as well. Overall we were beyond pleased with our stay at Mermaid Cottage and would recommend it to any small family heading to Galveston.
Galveston has something for everyone and Mermaid Cottage is minutes from it all: 3 Blocks to Beach and 6 Blocks to thrilling rides at the Pleasure Pier. 5 minute drive to the Historical Strand, Victorian buildings converted to stores, unique restaurants and museums. Fourteenth street has lots of wonderful restaurants including Mosquito Cafe. For history buffs, visit the 1892 Bishop's Palace, 1859 Ashton Villa, 1877 Tall sailing ship Elissa, Moody Mansion, and Pier 21 Theater to see how the 1900 Storm nearly destroyed Galveston.
