Located on Little Gasparilla Island, this 3/2 cottage has been updated and will accommodate two families. The unique Crab Trap is a sleeping area for a young child. This is a great location with a stunning view of Gasparilla Sound and it's majestic sunrises. A private dock out the front door provides a perfect place to catch local fish and spy on the fascinating underwater life. Turning on the dock lights at night provides a glimpse into what could be called a snook aquarium. While being located on the bay, there is a leisure block and a half stroll to the beach. Swimming, strolling, collecting shells and sun bathing are a few of the relaxing activities available once you reach the white sandy beaches.
Upon returning to the cottage from your day at the beach, enjoy rinsing off in the refreshing outdoor shower. Then soak in the views of the dolphin jumping in the bay while relaxing on the screened in porch and realize just how blessed you are.
The full sized kitchen is ready for use with a refrigerator, oven/stove, dishwasher, coffee pot and microwave. It is also stocked with dishes and other necessary utensils.
Linens and towels are supplied for your convenience.
Pirate's Water Taxi 941.697.5777 is the main mode of transportation to and from the island if you do not have a personal watercraft. Normal business hours are 8:30am - 5:00pm. There is a fee of $20 minimum one-way (this covers 2 people and luggage), with each additional person costing $10. The captain will run after hours if previously scheduled at an increased rate. This service runs out of Eldred's Marina where parking is available for $6/night.

About Paris Cousins
My wife and I (both 5th generation Floridians) have been coming here since 1975. We just love the area and the unique nature of Little Gasparilla Island. Our daughter grew up here on family vacations and now our twin grandaughters are discovering all the wonders of LGI.
Paris Cousins purchased this House in 2012
Why Paris Cousins chose Placida
If you love to fish or desire a great view of Gasparilla Sound, this is the place. The fishing is fantastic on the private dock. At night, you can turn on the light and see what looks like your own snook aquarium. The dock also makes it easy to unload you luggage and then kick back and relax.
What makes this House unique
The long private dock in front of this cottage has made the neighbors jealous for years. Fantastic views of Gasparilla Sound and breathtaking sunrises each morning are seen from the screened-in front porch. Miles of sandy beaches are a short walk away.

We had a wonderful time at Dock Envy! The property had everything we were looking for in a vacation. The owners have taken into account all of the necessary supplies/items to make sure you have an enjoyable vacation. Well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and a wonderful screen-in porch to eat, read or just relax.
Scenery is beautiful, dolphins jumping in the water while you are enjoying your morning coffee on the dock.
Doesn't get much more perfect than that!
We are so happy that you enjoyed your recent vacation to Little Gasparilla Island and Dock Envy. We strive to accommodate our guests and are pleased to hear when we have. The location of this property is certainly a high note! The view of the bay and the atmosphere makes for a great start to the day. We look forward to hosting you again for your next island vacation.
Outstanding option with excellent property management
This is a unique property. If you're looking for a location that provides excellent access to birds, fish, warm water boating and old-school Florida culture, this is a good option. If you're looking for Club Med-like amenities and easy access to your property, this option may not be a fit. First off, you'll need to take the water taxi or rent a boat to get yourself to the island. The water taxi runs pretty regularly, but keep in mind that it will cost you dearly if you're going back and forth between the mainland Marina and LGI (Little Gasparilla Island). We rented a boat and while we enjoyed the ability to leave the marina on our own timeline, it was relatively complicated for someone like myself who has minimal boating experience. If you do rent a boat or bring your own, pay attention to the channel markers, tides, weather, etc. When we left, the tide was low enough that we were hitting ground as we pulled into the marina. Ideally, you may want to stay on the mainland the same day as your flight to help minimize the stress. And when you travel to the island, make sure you bring sufficient food. There was no sugar, spice and minimal pots/pans, so come prepared if you're planning on cooking (which you will do unless you have your own boat and can make it to the one restaurant on the island).
Having made it to the island, welcome to paradise! We came with three kids (16, 13, 6) and they thoroughly enjoyed their 3 days on the island. The highlight for them was probably the golf car rental. Although it's about $50 a day, they were able to scoot around the island and enjoy some of the beaches you can access via golf cart.
If you're into fishing, it's really hard to beat this particular property. The dock is a phenomenal location to fish and you probably won't need to move much once you've arrived. There are no fishing poles or other equipment at the house, so you'll have to bring everything with you, which I did. I would characterize the fishing in December as relatively technical, but productive. I caught a blue fish, many snook, several barracuda, a lady fish, tons of catfish, numerous black grouper and another fish or two I couldn't identify. The barracuda are sitting out in the flats (adjacent to the dock). They bit on my silver/blue lures that resembled little sardines. The snook took pinfish and other live bait that I attached to my hook with light tackle. Night fishing seemed to be the best. Best of luck!
Beautiful location with wonderful view!
The house was comfortable and the owners are very friendly and helpful. The newly renovated kitchen and bathrooms are very nice and the screened porch is the perfect place to begin and end your day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning!
Great weekend getaway
We really enjoyed our weekend on little gasparilla island. My husband and I live in Sarasota and wanted to enjoy a little weekend getaway of boating and fishing with our dogs. This place is perfect and John the owner is very friendly and helpful. My husband enjoyed fishing off the dock. He caught tons of snook and other fish. The location easily accessible from the main land. The beach allows dogs. We rented a golf cart which I would highly recommend since the beach access is not really walking distance. Accommodations are simple, kitchen and bathrooms are newly renovated. We would definitely return to this property if we make it out to little gasparilla island in the future. Thank you for having us and our fur babies.
We are so happy that you enjoyed your recent stay at Dock Envy! The remodeled kitchen turned out beautifully and we are so pleased that you liked it. We look forward to hosting you as our guests again.
end of summer weekend
We enjoyed our stay @ dock envy. Everything was as expected. Wish we were able to stay longer to enjoy all the house had to offer. Location easy for find, Great dock for some evening fishing. Highly recommend. Great views from the house with a secluded feel.
We loved our stay!!!!
The house was clean and the view was amazing!! The out door shower even has hot water. It was so peaceful sitting on the front porch in the morning with my coffee and watching the dolphins playing in the water. We loved walking to the beach and searching for sea shells. The kitchen had everything we needed. I will definitely plan another trip to Dock Envy. I want to thank John for his warm hospitality and going above and beyond in making our stay there great!!
We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to having you as our guests for your next island vacation! John and I try to do our best at making each experience as wonderful and meaningful as possible. Thank you!
Little Gasparilla Island (LGI) is a bridgeless & roadless barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico, between Tampa and Naples. You leave your car at one of the marinas and take a 10-15 minute boat ride to the private dock and cottage. The island is approximately 7 miles long and approximately 1/4-1/2 mile wide. LGI is the perfect place to wind down and relax. You can take leisurely strolls on the beach, or explore the interior of the island along the many sandy paths. An option is to rent a golf cart, grab a cooler and just take your Sunday drive anytime you want. What about that book you have been wanting to read or going fishing either at the end of the dock or on a boat (either yours or a rental). Guides are also available in the area.
