Nice Place Generally, But Needs Work
We've stayed at Casa de Emdeko on previous island visits and really love the complex and location. This unit is in a good location in the complex, with a nice view, and is generally nice, but is obviously just a rental unit for the owner. Contrary to the listing, the kitchen appliances are NOT new, but very used and older. Rusty and dull knives, rusty vintage dishwasher, and mis-matched silverware and dishes. Kitchen and bathroom cabinets are old (original '60s vintage?) and questionably clean. The bedroom dresser is obviously from a thrift store and the drawers almost fall out when pulled open. The bathroom lights are old and rusty and also original vintage. There was a very strong chemical cleaning smell when we moved in, but it went away after a day. Queen bed was pretty good. Like all the mirrors and the washer/dryer was nice. All in all, we would not rent this particular unit again. There are too many other nicer units for the same or a little more money in this complex.
Reasonable priced and good location
We were looking for a reasonable priced place to stay at Kona area. This place is adequate but not great. The location is good, the property complex garden and pools seems well maintained even though we didn't have time to use the pools. The little beach area with lounge chairs at the property was nice. There is partial ocean view from the balcony of the unit, which was nice. We had our breakfast there every morning and had no problem neighbor being so closed with from across or next to us. We didn't get specific parking instruction and had to find our own way around. It would be great if specific information was provided before we checked in. A few items (kettle, knives, dish washer) in the kitchen are rusted, it would be great if the owner considered replace them for future tenants. There were washer and dryer in the unit which gave great convenience. We didn't find any boogie boards, beach chairs and coolers in the closet like the other reviewer mentioned. There was no place to put shampoo/soap stuff in the shower, you had to put things on the floor. Would be great the owner considered putting up even a simple shower rack. Overall, if you are looking mid range priced place, this place is not bad.
A lovely slice of paradise.
This condo was the perfect home base for all the exploring we did on the Kailua Kona side of the island. The condo was comfortable and fully stocked with everything we needed or could want. Debbie and Donna were both very welcoming and advised us of things to do on the island as well as giving us some tips on where to eat and the best beaches to visit.
Great place, wish I could have stayed longer.
Great pool, convenient location. Awesome place to kick to your feet up.
Nice for the price
We were looking for something reasonably priced to spend a few days on the big island. This condo fit the bill. The location is great. Close to restaurants as well as beaches. A little view of the ocean from the lanai. When you open the windows to the lanai you are looking across to the other building with neighbors looking back at you. Two pools but we didn't have time to use them. The grounds were beautifully kept. The condo was basically clean however the ceiling fans were coated with dust. The bathroom lights needed updating and looked dirty. Lots of mirrors which just aren't my style. Didnt get any information back from the owner on how to get there or how to get in. Made me a little nervous that we wouldn't have a room. No response to my email asking for directions. Had to call the owner after arriving (had to look online to find the name of the complex) to get room number and how to get in. No one was around at the front desk. But all worked out. There were boogie boards, beach chairs and coolers in the closet.
The condo is small but very clean, comfortable, and nicely updated. The grounds are very well kept.
We very much enjoyed our week at this property. The atmosphere is very relaxing and welcoming. Felt like a nice homey place. Would recommend this for anyone who wants to enjoy a time at the edge of the water this is a good one. The complex is very well maintained and beautiful. The walk to the water is short and the waves are great. Alii Drive makes it easy to get to anything that you want or need. Thank you for such a nice stay.
