Another great stay!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from our annual stay at Rainbows Retreat. Another great week! I noticed a couple of upgrades this year including new carpet in all three bedrooms. There was a new home built across the street but there is still a vacant lot next to it which gives a bit of a unobstructed view. I believe the owners were not aware of the new home being built and unknowingly still advertised it as a unobstructed view. Still love the sound of the waves, the night sky and the 2 minute walk to the beach. Caught lots of flounder in the surf and fished some of the offshore rigs and caught a limit of Spanish Mackerel! Toured the civil war fort 3 miles down the road. Even had some hammock time. Thanks again, see you in 50 weeks! Jason and Wayna Dean.

Not Exactly as Advertised.

  • 3 of 5

My family was excited to be this close to the beach with an unobstructed view, as advertised. Then surprise...there is a extremely large (houses 38 people) duplex that was plopped right next to the dark blue house. You will notice in the description and photographs by Fort Morgan Realty that this house is not mentioned or shown. The blue house is conveniently cut off in the picture. The large yellow Banana Split as they call it, was not mentioned, or photographed. When we looked at Google maps months ago, before the construction, this new house was not shown. You can still see the ocean to the right of the large yellow duplex, but the view is obstructed, not to mention the large forklift sitting next to the yellow house, and the loud noises coming from the large house. There was a uhaul trailer sitting next to the house that obstructed our beach view as well. Had we know about this house, we would not have rented this place. We don't like being so close to larger homes with pools. Too noisy. Plus, it totally obstructs your view from the front deck. I did call Fort Morgan Realty to complain on Monday, June 1. The person apologized and said she would change the ad right away. As of June 11..it hasn't been changed.

Besides the false advertising, the house is pretty much as described. The AC and internet work great. The under the house shower is fantastic. It is decororated nicely. And it is a close walk to the beach. It does need to be cleaned better, as the bathrooms and floors are very dirty. There was red algae in both bathrooms. The laundry room is located under the house in a separate musty stinky room. Not ideal. The bedroom with the red bunks has a dresser in which the drawers fall out when opened. Keep your toes safe! On day two, the cold water from the tap turned brown. Again, I called Fort Morgan Realty on Tuesday June 2. I never heard back. The water cleared up the next day. The kitchen drawers don't work very well, and the counter is set too far over them.

I say all this to say that we would not rent this place again and we will not rent from Fort Morgan Realty again. There lack of disclosure of the new construction is unprofessional and there are many other realty companies out there that have better ethics. We would not recommend this house overall.

Wow! Feels like the island life, relaxed, comfortable, barefoot and free from the stresses of our everyday life. We unpack and instantly are in the vacation zone. Standing out on the deck you can see the ocean and the bay. From the master bedroom bed you can see the ocean and hear the surf. You see a diversity of wildlife and sea birds. The house has everything you need from fully equipped kitchen to comfortable beds. We love to rent bics and explore the neighborhood and also a great outing is to ride in the State park. The pier at Gulf shores and the fort are a must. Long walks on the beach and swimming in the clear beautiful water are always fun and a wonderful experience. My wife and I definately recommend this beach house for a romantic getaway for two or the whole family.

Will Never Go Anywhere Else!

  • 5 of 5

Usually I don't do the whole review thing but after 6 years of staying here I felt it was time to put the word out. WE LOVE THIS HOUSE! Ft. Morgan is the only area we vacation in. We have stayed in a few different homes over the years but a few years ago decided to call this one home for one week a year. It honestly feels like it is ours. It's that cozy, clean, nicely decorated and has everything we need. The kitchen is stocked and we've never had to go buy anything. It's all there. Even found some AA batteries one time that the owner had left. My wife loves the master bedroom's decor but her favorite is leaving the french doors open at night to sleep to the sound of the waves. We love the front deck being partially screened and partially uncovered. Great for looking up at the sky at night. The best thing about the front deck is the unobstructed view of the gulf. The downstairs provides washer / dryer and storage room (there is always donated toys / fishing poles here too). Very convenient, the last thing I want to do on my vacation is travel somewhere to do laundry. Also, love the hammock downstairs and outdoor private shower. Owners are great to deal with and just nice folks in general. This is our beach house and we will never go anywhere else.

Awesome beach house. The overview and photos are spot on. Beautiful view of beach across the street-you can hear the waves while sitting on the deck. The stars are lovely at night. We have enjoyed watching pelicans, dolphins, and even the Blue Angels flying over. The home is very clean and well maintained. The owners put a lot of thought and time into remodeling and decorating with many seaside touches. Plenty of room and lots of windows surround you making it bright and cheery. This is one of the best beach houses we have rented - and we rent a lot of beach houses! A short drive into Gulf shores, but there is a Tacky Jack's and a little restaurant called Sassy Bass just a couple miles away with live music and great food. Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge is nearby by with wonderful walking trails, Fort Morgan itself is a Civil War fort well worth visiting as well. We will definitely rent here again. Can't think of a better place to be in this area. Quiet and relaxing, which is just what we were looking for. The owners are extremely accommodating and easy to work with even for two picky old folks like us!

Great rental

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful house to escape to for a vacation on the beach. Beach access is right across the street (low traffic road) and is a quiet beach. Home is very cozy and comfortable with everything you need to feel at home. Nice porch to watch the waves/sunset - both screened and open areas. Volleyball net is an added plus! Owners are easy to work with. We love it so much we hope/plan to return regularly!
