Overview

About the property

2 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, sleeps 6-8

Kingsley Barn is an ideal vacation rental located in the heart of the historic village of South Woodstock.

This newly renovated historic barn, which sleeps 6-8, overlooks the Kedron Brook and fields beyond. Walk to breakfast or lunch at the South Woodstock Country Store (a must!) or dinner or a swim at the Kedron Valley Inn. The Green Mountain Horse Association is but 1/8 mile away and we are located right on the VAST trails. We are nearby Suicide Six, Pico, Killington and Okemo ski areas.

The building's large open space (12 foot ceilings with exposed beams) includes refinished antique floors, and all-new stainless steel appliances including microwave, refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, washer and dryer. The many windows in the living area space open the outside world to you and bring natural light inside.

Kingsley Barn offers free WIFI, free phone for calls in North America and cable TV. There are two bedrooms (one with a queen-sized bed, and one with two single beds).

Features

These accommodations feature a play loft for children, a fully-equipped kitchen with eating island for four and a dining room table that seats six to eight. There is a split bathroom allowing privacy for two people. The deck overlooking the Kedron Brook and the pristine country beyond is perfect for enjoying a glass of wine and our sunset views.

Carefully Renovated

This historic barn was built circa 1850 by the son of South Woodstock’s first settler. The restoration of this building has been given every attention to detail and has resulted in a charming and functional vacation spot. Kingsley Barn renovations were done by the new owners of the property, Ambrose Custom Builders.

Kingsley Barn is beautifully redone and awaits your reservation!

About Brigitte Ambrose

Our family moved to Woodstock from Chicago in 2007, drawn by Woodstock's beauty and depth of culture in a small town setting.

Brigitte Ambrose purchased this house in 2011

Why Brigitte Ambrose chose South Woodstock

An historic home and barn in a quaint village setting was very attractive to us. Our teenage daughters truly enjoy the Kedron Pond just a short walk from out property, spending much of their spare time there in the summers!

What makes this house unique

The best of both worlds - a quaint village setting with nature surrounding us. The stream, back meadows and forest and trail system across our small bridge, are magical.

Gorgeous Vermont

  • 2 of 5

A little dusty but the views were spectacular. There for a wedding; barn was comfortable. Vermont is spectacular and the country store nearby was so friendly

Owner's Response: Thank you for being a guest at our barn and for your feedback. Anything less than a five star review is seen by us as letting you down. We take this very seriously. I want you to know that we brought this up with the cleaning crew to ensure it does not happen again.

Lovely family stay in beautifully renovated barn

  • 5 of 5

Kingsley Barn made a great base for a wonderful week exploring Vermont. The barn comfortably fitted our family of five, offering delightful country views while within walking distance of a great country store and lovely inn in South Woodstock. In addition to being elegantly renovated and well-equipped, the barn has great outdoor space with a spacious deck overlooking a brook and separate fire pit (a big hit with the kids for Smores!). The barn is a short car ride into Woodstock and all the many wonderful things on offer there (including several good restaurants). The barn is also well-located for hiking, kayaking and horseback riding. A super place to visit, and Brigitte and Chris were very welcoming hosts.

Lovely renovated barn on beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week at Kingsley Barn this summer. The barn has a lot of character, a great kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. The windows provide lots of natural light and a great view of the property overlooking Kedron Brook. A relaxing place to stay. We hope to return next year!

Everything we expected... And MORE!!

  • 5 of 5

Just ended our 4 week stay at Kingsley Barn and wish we could stay longer. Accommodations were great. Location was perfect for a quiet stay in a rural setting but with easy access to all Woodstock has to offer. Brigitte & Chris were quick to respond to inquiries and needs. Will recommend to others.

Quaint, Cozy, Craftsman Lux Barn

  • 5 of 5

We had the opportunity to stay in this gorgeous barn this past February; we were 4 adults enjoying a ski, snowmobiling, brewery, spa weekend away. Located a few miles from the town of Woodstock, in South Woodstock, the property is found in a historic district which is just the most picturesque! There is a general store about 50 yards from the house for basic food items, local arts/crafts for purchase, or delicious breakfast sandwiches. The barn is craftsman style, constructed with many windows which allows you to take in the serene mountain/river view behind (very private). With two twin beds in one room, a queen in the other, a large bathroom with one tub, two sinks, large living/kitchen area, we had plenty of space and were very comfortable during our stay. The kitchen was updated and fully equipped for cooking in. We loved the whole experience and hope to return this coming ski season. We are all very thankful to the gracious owners as well who were especially helpful during out stay!

Our Activities if looking for ideas:

-Killington Mt/Pico Mt for Ski - approx 30 min drive from property

-Snowmobiling - www.snowmobilevermont.com - 2 hr back country tour was just the right amount of time. Highly recommended for seeing VT from a different perspective.

-Brewery - Long Trail - after snowmobiling/skiing enjoy cold beer by the fire pit along the river they have out back.

-Dining - Worthy Kitchen - Casual Lunch spot, you order at counter and bring to table. One of my favorite meals, comfort food prepared for the foodie. Great selection of beers on tap.

-Spa - Woodstock Inn - After a weekend of activities treat yourself with a trip to their spa....services, relaxation area w/outdoor hottub and sauna.

*Note taxi services/ubers are limited in this area and are pricy. I'd plan ahead.
