Kingsley Barn is an ideal vacation rental located in the heart of the historic village of South Woodstock.

This newly renovated historic barn, which sleeps 6-8, overlooks the Kedron Brook and fields beyond. Walk to breakfast or lunch at the South Woodstock Country Store (a must!) or dinner or a swim at the Kedron Valley Inn. The Green Mountain Horse Association is but 1/8 mile away and we are located right on the VAST trails. We are nearby Suicide Six, Pico, Killington and Okemo ski areas.

The building's large open space (12 foot ceilings with exposed beams) includes refinished antique floors, and all-new stainless steel appliances including microwave, refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, washer and dryer. The many windows in the living area space open the outside world to you and bring natural light inside.

Kingsley Barn offers free WIFI, free phone for calls in North America and cable TV. There are two bedrooms (one with a queen-sized bed, and one with two single beds).


These accommodations feature a play loft for children, a fully-equipped kitchen with eating island for four and a dining room table that seats six to eight. There is a split bathroom allowing privacy for two people. The deck overlooking the Kedron Brook and the pristine country beyond is perfect for enjoying a glass of wine and our sunset views.

Carefully Renovated

This historic barn was built circa 1850 by the son of South Woodstock’s first settler. The restoration of this building has been given every attention to detail and has resulted in a charming and functional vacation spot. Kingsley Barn renovations were done by the new owners of the property, Ambrose Custom Builders.

An historic home and barn in a quaint village setting was very attractive to us. Our teenage daughters truly enjoy the Kedron Pond just a short walk from out property, spending much of their spare time there in the summers!

What makes this house unique

The best of both worlds - a quaint village setting with nature surrounding us. The stream, back meadows and forest and trail system across our small bridge, are magical.

We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay in this beautiful property! It is clean, gorgeous, peaceful, and has extensive areas for kids to run, across the stream. We enjoyed exploring the stream, and also had an outdoor fire in the ring. The kitchen is clean and we cooked many times at the barn. We are hoping to return next year!

Very nicely remodeled barn adjacent to a small brook nearby. Small but a good choice for a smaller party of guests. Bridgette was very helpful and accommodating.

This place was exactly what we were looking for. The barn was nicely restored to an amazing living space. The trails accessible right from the back of the home are amazing. We definitely plan to return.

Perfect Location

My husband and I are always looking for a special spot to "call our own" and return to for a yearly sojourn or two. Well, we just might have found our spot! The location of the barn is so peaceful and relaxing. And the country walks from the doorstep of the barn, so charming. Woodstock itself is beautiful with much to do for hikes. And the Simon Pierce restaurant for Sunday brunch is fantastic! The best quiche we ever had. We can't wait to return.

Charming Spot

We had a very nice stay at the Barn. It was clean and well-decorated. Furthermore, the owners were quite welcoming. We really enjoyed the views of the river and the snow-covered fields. My family of four would love to return for a visit at some point.

If you stay at the Barn, make sure you walk down to the South Woodstock Country Store for coffee, breakfast, or lunch. A great way to end the day is a drink by the fire at the Kedron Valley Inn.

The drive to Woodstock and all it has to offer is not long. We loved eating at Worthy Kitchen. We had some nice meals at the Woodstock Inn and our children think they have never visited a better game room. There are plenty of galleries and boutiques to stroll through.

We hoped to ski at Suicide Six, but they have limited snow-making capabilities and thus we traveled to Killington and Okemo. Both were 30-35 minutes away. Okemo has much more of a family atmosphere than Killington and friendlier people. However, the ride back from Killington takes you past the Long Trail brewery, which is a fun stop!

Keep in mind that the Barn is cozy (i.e. not very big) - the entire guest area occupies just one level of the structure. With two adults and two children, the den/kitchen can get a bit cramped in winter when outdoor activities are more limited. The Barn has a lot more living space when the back deck and patio can be utilized. It is hard to imagine any more than four people occupying the Barn at once during the winter. Even six people would probably be a stretch during the warmer months, especially given that there is really only one bathroom. I really wouldn't recommend eight people sharing the Barn.

The Barn is located right next to the owners' house. I only mention that because some may like a bit more seclusion. However, we didn't mind because the owners were so kind and helpful. Furthermore, they completely respected our privacy.

Wonderful visit

Car: recommended

Walking distance to GMHA, Kedron Valley Inn, SW General Store and village ammenities. Barn backs to 90 acres conserved land, VAST trail, hiking trails & GMHA trail system. Wading area in brook behind barn (sand bottom). Bikes avial for exploring.
