Hotel Amenities Make for a Hotel-Like Experience
This is a beautiful space with plenty of room for a family of four. Located two houses from the bay front walking path, this cottage is an easy stroll to the restaurants and shopping of Marine Ave, as well as a short ferry ride to the ocean beach along the peninsula. Ample street parking, as well as a medium-sized garage space that just fit our rental SUV, is available - we did not need a car at all for the island and peninsula attractions.
Unlike other VRBO properties we have rented, this beach cottage is staged in such a way that you don’t feel like you are staying in a communal space others have occupied. The small touches, like the small, hotel-sized toiletries, ample clean bath towels, and full bottles of liquid soaps in the bathroom and kitchen, make you feel like you are staying at a resort property. Beach towels and beach gear in the garage were great for taking to the peninsula beach. The space is every bit as nice as it looks in the listing photos.
Full disclosure - the upstairs tenant is relatively quiet, but every movement can be heard downstairs due to the age of the building. I am a heavy sleeper and did not hear a thing, but my family were woken up the first couple of nights (this was easily fixed with earbuds!). Also, the neighbors next door like to sit on their porch, socialize with passers-by and enjoy a cigarette in the evening. This did not bother us (and they are very friendly people!), but one should expect this close-quarter interaction on most any property on the island.
Kimberly was extremely helpful and made the whole process flow with ease. We look forward to staying here, again, in the future!
We had a great stay in Balboa. Kimberly was so helpful with any questions.
Beautiful cottage on Balboa Island
I shared a wonderful birthday weekend with my two grandchildren and son in this lovely cottage. Our favorite spot was the view of the sailboats from the front porch. One block to Bayfront and three short blocks to Marine Ave, the location was perfect. We didn't have to bring chairs or kids sand toys as everything was provided. The Property Manager was extremely responsive and helpful. We would recommend this rental to anyone interested.
Excellent little cottage!!
We stayed four nights in the cottage. We love the central location on the island and being just a few houses from the bay. It was super clean and comfortable. We all slept very well. There were lots of convenient little touches that made for an easy stay. Although there is only one bathroom the shower was awesome! We will definitely stay again!
Spring break 2019
We stayed at the beach cottage and it was great - very comfortable, incredibly well-equipped and just…easy. Kim took excellent care of us and was very friendly. We plan on coming back next year!
Cutest place ever!
Having rented the downstairs unit that included, three bedrooms/one bath, it was the perfect size for my husband, son, sister and I to enjoy! The home has a detached garage with laundry machines, I was very grateful! The boardwalk is just a few steps out the front door. The air is so fresh and flows nicely through out the home. We really enjoyed the small town charm of Balboa Island. The owner was so helpful and easy to communicate with. The stay was a beautiful success!
