Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: We have lived in Marin County for 30 years and had been looking for a weekend property in Inverness for 7 years when we found this classic cabin known locally as 'Wee Housie'. I am an architectural photographer, and my wife an arts educator, so we very carefully maintained the original character of the cabin when we restored it. We have been sailing and hiking in and around Inverness and have come to love it. Inverness is on the shore of Tomales Bay, one of the most protected and pristine bays on the entire west coast of California. It reminds me, a transplanted Brit, of the best of the coastal landscape I grew up with, and my wife and children, Bay Area natives are deeply attached to it as well.
Why the Owner Chose Inverness, CA, USA:
This was a rare opportunity to purchase a uniquely charming original cabin in Inverness with a sunny garden. When we discovered it, we were struck by the fact that in 7 years of searching we had not seen any other small house in Inverness that was as original as this one, and with such a lovely garden on the mesa above Tomales Bay, just a short walk to the waters edge and village center. It is a very peaceful, romantic and rustic retreat to unplug from modern life.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
This cabin is uniquely 'old Inverness', an authentic but comfortable and charming California cabin, built inside and out of old growth redwood. Imagine settling into the sofa in front of an open fire in the evening in a room that is exactly as it was in 1917. Settle into a slower and simpler life, surrounded by nature.
