About Deb Powell
This spectacular property was purchased in 1986 with the hope of 360 degree views from the top of the property. The "barnhouse" was built in 2001 and was used for years as family retreat, with breathtaking views to the east, and is currently the caretaker's residence. Actual construction of Alcorn Heights began in 2005, with the clearing of the land and foundation excavation. The foundation was poured in 2006. Site work continued through July of 2007 when the actual first floor deck was constructed and the timberframe construction began. By fall, the home was tight to the weather. Construction continued through 2008 with interior fixtures and details completed on March 9, 2009. Our family's history abounds throughout the different themes, corridors, and corners of the home.

Why Deb Powell chose Barnard
True 360 degree views have been created for this site by carefully opening view windows of the peaceful surroundings and spectacular views. We carried the natural surroundings to the inside of this property so no one feels a separation between the two. Choosing clean lines and organically inspired design elements makes the inside of this home as tranquil and naturally elegant as the views surrounding it. The final furnishings are intended to make this home a fun place to enjoy family and friends!

This property had amazing views and beautifully furnished and built. Will definitely return
This home is like a piece of heaven! Craftsmanship and views are Fabulous!
Every window has an outstanding view! This is our second stay. We love it! An addiction!
We love all the places to shower, in the morning, as well hahaha!! My favorite shower is the rainfall shower by the hot tub!
It took us a half an hour just to snowshoe around the property and the little path-like areas. Such DEEP snow!
Family game time in the HUGE family room was wonderful!!
There were plenty of places, in this home, for everyone to find a quiet corner.
Beautiful views to wake up to!
Thank you Rick for sharing your piece of heaven!!

Fantastic mountaintop home with beautiful views
Our two families, with 4 teenage girls, loved the home, hot tub and the views. We enjoyed the fireplace, played plenty of board games, watched the olympics, and in olympic spirit had a ping-pong tournament that we'll remember for a long-time. It was a short drive to get to a couple of fun ski mountains. The kitchen is very well equipped and so we made dinners most nights.
The one drawback was due to weather. In mid-February, the mid-60's temps caused the roads leading to the house to be a muddy soupy mess. It made the trip to and from the house a bit unnerving at times. The driveway was far better maintained than the roads. As the owner lists, a 4WD vehicle is likely best when mud season rolls around.
The house is absolutely beautiful. We stayed for my sister's 30th birthday weekend, 7 adults and 2 toddlers and had more than enough space to stay and for the toddlers to run around in. The game room was a lifesaver with the kids, and the ping pong table was a fun bonus. The views from the house are fantastic, and we can't say enough good things about the house itself. (Heated bathroom floors, the awesome kitchen, the hot tub!!) The beds were comfortable, everything was clean, and we felt at home almost immediately. The town of Barnard is very small, but had everything we needed. Only took 30 minutes to get to Pico Mountain to ski, and only about 15 to 20 mins to get to Woodstock to walk around and visit the inn for the spa (also recommended!) They are not kidding when they say the driveway is steep though. We had a land rover and had no problem going up and down the driveway, but don't ignore the 4wd car advice if traveling in the winter. We would recommend Alcorn Heights to anyone, and hope we are able to return someday.
This house is amazing! Absolutely stunning interior, only outdone by the views out every window!
This house is amazing! Absolutely stunning interior, only outdone by the views out every window! The windows are so big and numerous that even indoors you feel part of the outdoors.
Excellent across the board.
This property exceeded all our expectations. Among many lovely features, the exquisite views, landscaped grounds and layout of the kitchen were highlights. The "bonus" room was also a family favorite. Furnishings and fixtures are of extremely high quality. Our AWD vehicles handled the short steep sections of the driveway without difficulty, even after rain. We'd love to experience this property during foliage season and in winter. Communications from owner and manager were prompt and comprehensive.
