Alicia Kinney purchased this cabin in 2001
It is centrally located near some great ski resorts in the winter and a great place to hike, mountan bike or relax in the summer.
Easy access from the I-80 freeway, but not too close. Plenty of parking, level lot, long driveway. 3-4 cars can fit. lots of areas to walk and hike.
Great cabin, great host! I highly recommend this place.
From the start, Alicia was extremely accommodating and encouraged us to call her if we needed anything. The actual cabin was great- it was big (huge) and comfortable, and was the perfect place to come home to after hiking all day. We were worried there would be loud party cabins around (since it was the 4th), but it was quiet and peaceful. This is a small thing- but I loved that all the dinnerware was matching, rather than the usual chipped potpourri of strange plates and mismatched mugs you find at other cabin rentals. It showed there was a level of care to this place that isn't always typical of cabin rentals.
Also, they had a sweet gas grill I regret not using, but by the time we got back to the cabin everyday we were beat.
I have to give Alicia an extra thank you and wish I could give her 5 stars too. She was amazing. The day of check out, I got the car and my dog all packed up at checkout time, only to find out I couldn't start my car (the battery for my keyless had died). I texted her to let her know I was checked out but sitting in her driveway, desperately trying to find a solution to my key problem. She drove over, with out my asking, to see if there was anything she could do to help, and without hesitation she drove me and my dog to where my husband was rock-climbing to grab his working key. She was so understanding and cool about it, and didn't seem to be put out in the slightest- I really appreciated that since I would have felt put out in her place. She genuinely loves her job, so she's good at it.
She also had great tips (eat at Donner Pass Pizza), knew all the rock climbing areas, and was generally just as helpful as she could be. Thank you, Alicia! You were a lifesaver!
We will definitely be back!
The property was amazing! the youth had a great time and enjoyed the cabin. The only thing I would change is to have the address numbers clearly posted, it was difficult to find at 11pm when we arrived. Other than that it was a great stay! Thank you so much.
We had such a good time at this cabin and will definitely rent again! We love the neighborhood and there is excellent sledding right down the street. The setup was great for the kids to have their own space while the adults could watch a movie. The bedrooms are really quiet, the fireplace was easy to use, everything was clean, and the kitchen had everything we needed. If that is not enough, there are so many games and movies to use so you don't have to bring a bunch of things up. And best of all... Alicia, was amazing! She took very good care of us!
My extended family and I stayed at this cabin over President's Day weekend. There was a total of 9 adults and 3 kids, and this cabin was perfect for us! Alicia was such a pleasure to work with - she always responded quickly to my emails and was extremely helpful throughout the booking process.
The cabin is exactly what I was hoping for - comfortable, clean and fully stocked with games, DVDs, toys for the kids, towels, linens, etc. Fantastic place to stay and I would not hesitate to come back!!
The Property Manager was totally a pleasure to deal with. She answered our way too many questions above and beyond the call of duty and put up with our multiple calls. We really appreciate the extra mile she went.
The Cabin itself was exactly as described. we really liked the location , and the setup of the community.
it was well stocked with quality supplies and was clean and well maintained.
We would definitely recommend this place and any other that Alicia manages. It was absolutely a pleasure.

Four bedroom cabin at an affordable price very close to Boreal mountain resort. Northstar is nearby too. The stairs from the driveway up to the front door have very narrow steps, so be careful. Something that's hard to see from the pictures is that there are actually three beds in the forth bedroom, which was a pleasant surprise. There were plenty of logs for the fireplace but we couldn't find any starter wood, though not a big deal. One car can fit in the garage and we fit three more on the driveway, but let the owner know in advance. Communication with Alicia by email was very pleasant. She responded to my emails quickly and addressed any concerns. My friend was able to bring her pet last minute.
Despite the weather - five feet of snow in 24 hrs.- and the temperature outside being in the tweens- this house was really cozy! The fireplace/stove was very efficient & with wall heaters in every room we never had a chill. The kitchen was very well stocked - the house was clean & everything was there. (linens, towels, shampoos, etc.) The upstairs was perfect for our kids - they loved the air hockey - and we were able to kick back in the living/dining area. Great setting. The trees looked splendid in the snow & the snowplow kept up with the deluge making it easy to come & go. We all want to go back & the kids were sad to go...Very close to ski resorts also...
Easy access on to I-80. Winter: Downhill skiing, snowboarding, X-cross-country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, sledding. Less than a 10-minute drive to excellent downhill Sugar Bowl, Boreal Ridge, Soda Springs, Donner Ski Ranch, Royal Gorge. 30 minutes from NorthStar, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Homewood.
SUMMERS: Great place to relax and spend time with friends and family, pets are welcome too! .Our cabin is located next to easy to moderate hiking trails, easy access to the yuba river, you can float down it most of the summer. Lots of summer recreational activities on Donner Summit and Truckee/Tahoe includes Sugar bowl's Dinner's at Lake Mary Series,Camp Woodward, kayaking, paddleboarding ,boating, rock climbing, river rafting, museums, historical tours on Donner summit (Donner Party), state park (Donner Lake) they offer also historical lake front mansion tours, sightseeing. Summer temps range from 70-80 degrees, it does cool down at night. In may and June often there is a few patches of snow left over from winter.
