About Judy Suhr

Your hosts are Ben and Judy, thirty year residents of Necedah, retired, who enjoy meeting new people. Ben is a retired Land Surveyor and Judy a retired Teacher. While they live on the property in another house they respect privacy and are available if there are any questions you may have about the area and your stay.

The rental property was built for aging parents to live in during their retirement years and are no longer living; therefore sitting empty except for visits from family and friends.

Why Judy Suhr chose Necedah

Ben's family visited the Necedah area in the 60's-70's and purchased the property in 1976 because they fell in love with the remoteness of the area and the fishing. Ben and Judy were married in 1989 and the property was given to them as a wedding present; it has been their home since. It is close to town (3 miles) and yet far enough out of town to enjoy what living in the country is all about. Seclusion from the main road, quiet star filled nights, wildlife sounds and sightings, as well as, room for gardening.

What makes this house unique

When you enter this home it is inviting and open. The kitchen has skylights and the living room has vaulted ceiling with windows all along the southern wall (ceiling to floor) for viewing the river and wooded property located on the other side of the river. The living room and kitchen have items placed throughout that have been collected over the years adding a uniqueness to this home away form home.

You can exit to the patio via the back door and step up to an extension of the patio with table, umbrella and chairs for outside dining with a view of the woods and river. The patio has lighting for night enjoyment.

The front porch has a wicker couch and chair for your leisure along with a recliner/rocker.

This is the second time we've visited. Well maintained, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, quiet environment. Judy is a wonderful host, even helping us out with things we forgot.

This is our second year staying at Ben and Judy's rental, and once again it was a wonderful week! We enjoyed a fantastic girls' week-long stay that involved shopping, sightseeing, and kick back relaxing in the cabin. The accommodations at this location are EXCELLENT! Anything we could possibly have needed was provided, and we enjoyed cooking out as well as sitting out on the front porch afternoons and evenings. Although we do not fish, I can only imagine that those who do would relish a stay here. It is close to both lakes (Castle Rock and Petenwell) that provide boat access as well as beaches for swimming. Thank you so much, Judy, for your gracious, welcoming hospitality. You really know how to do things right! Hoping to see you again next year.

The Property was great looking. Great location.

  • 5 of 5

Judy was really nice and welcoming. Felt very much at home. There was more than enough of everything in case we forgot some things. Nice location to surrounding towns and parks. A little disappointing we couldn't fish from the back yard. The drive to the Damn in town was short and successful though. Beautiful inside the house! Would recommend.

Better than advertised

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay. The house was clean, comfortable, and very well stocked. Other than food and drink, we didn't need to go buy anything else. The property was quiet, secluded, and well-maintained. Our dog loved it! The owners were very accommodating.
