This home has been in our family since 1952. It was purchased by my grandparents and has been the site of many family vacations and occasions over the years. We are happy to share its many outstanding qualities with you!
Cindy Talbott purchased this house in 1952
You will love the indoor/outdoor feel of this home. Each room has large windows to let in light and the marvelous sea breeze. It is comfortable and casual - just right for a seaside getaway!!
Balboa Island Charmer has the architectural features of a '50's beach cottage, but up-to-date comforts and conveniences. The many spaces provide comfort and privacy for families or groups of friends vacationing together. Perfect for girls getaways, family vacations, or groups of friends looking for a recreational retreat!
"The Balboa Experience" is unique and this home on the island was the perfect spot for our two granddaughters, ages 7 and 5, to enjoy the island fun. This very clean home comfortably housed our party of four adults and two children. Two of the bedrooms and one bathroom are upstairs and the two other bedrooms and bathroom are downstairs in a different section of the home. Outside and central to the kitchen and dining area as well as one of the downstairs bedrooms is a very private and enclosed patio where we shared many meals together. Exiting right from the front door we chose to walk the couple of blocks to the North Bay Front beach because the bay current is milder there for smaller children. Our granddaughters spent a great deal of time at the bay - a great place for sand and water play. The house is located almost equally distant from Marine Avenue where we walked for dinner as well as the famous Balboa Bars and Frozen bananas and Agate Avenue where the ferry to the mainland is located. All in all this home on Diamond provided a comfortable spot for our Balboa Experience.
We stayed for a week with our adult son, two granddaughters, and two of their friends. It was very comfortable - enough room for everyone. Comfortable in all ways and had many amenities which added to our enjoyment.
Stayed here with 6 girlfriends ( all over 60 yrs old) and this house was perfect for our needs. We parked our car and did not use it for 4 days. The house has every thing that you would need. It was very comfortable and decorated very nicely. We spent every night outside on the patio that has a pass thru to the kitchen. We already have booked this cottage for our next girls trip.
This is such a cool place that I selfishly don't want other people to even know about it.
But the owner was so great to work with that I just have do the right thing and tell
you what a phenomenal place Cindy is renting.
This home is clean, comfortable, and charming.
It's been updated in all the right ways, and yet that comforting
old Balboa Island grandma touch is still present.
The floor-plan is smart with a split bedroom layout : two bedrooms and a
bathroom upstairs and two sleeping areas and a bathroom downstairs.
The home also has "fun things" like the pass-through counter from the kitchen
to the outside patio. We now have priceless footage of our four-year-old playing
"restaurant". I think that window was seriously the highlight of his trip - along with
the bi-level front door complete with a real ship's portal.
This home really is central to everything.
It's an easy walk to the ferry, ferris wheel, fun zone, and then onto the beach.
Or in the opposite direction - an equally easy walk to the main street that
has a great selection of restaurants, shops, frozen bananas and balboa bars.
There is even a Pavilions grocery store less than a mile away.
Basically - I wish I was still there.
The beach house was awesome! It felt like a balboa island beach house. The upstairs was great for my wife and I away from some of the kids. The kids had their own little area. We rented bikes and used the garage to park the bikes. The house had everything we needed. The courtyard was bright and big with a great bbq that uses Kingsford coals. The house was located in the center of the island. it was convenient and quiet. It is about halfway between Marine Ave (Main Street) and Agate (The ferry street). Also, Diamond is next to Ruby which has the best and biggest beach on the island. The price was fair. We will stay there next time we go to Balboa.
Our family felt so lucky to find this property on Balboa Island. Cindy and Mike were very welcoming and helpful during our stay. The home was spacious, with 4 bedrooms one of which we made into an office overlooking a nice sized interior court yard. It's one of the few rental homes that has an inside court yard. It has a very beachy feel and we spent many hours sitting out on the front porch enjoying the afternoon sun. The mid-island location makes it an easy walk to the waterfront, the ferry or to the shops and restaurants on Marine Ave. We highly recommend this rental, and hope we can come back again soon!
Located in the center of wonderful Balboa Island, a short walk to the bay front or to quaint Marine Avenue for shopping or dining. Very near the Balboa Ferry which carries you to the Fun Zone, or ocean beaches and scenic Balboa Pier.
