Spacious and newly renovated with a touch of historic class this 1850's home is a comfortable and relaxing place to spend a few days or a couple of weeks. It has much of the old house charm but with all the modern conveniences. It's close to our lovely harbor and parks and a quick but beautiful walk into the downtown. A large comfortable master bedroom has a queen size bed with ample closet space. The cozy living room has plenty of comfortable seating, a wood stove for cool evenings, (thermostat for baseboard heat also) and a sleeper loveseat (twin) for guests. The dining room is bright and sunny in the morning and looks out to the back yard with views of the harbor. The kitchen has all new appliances including a dishwasher, microwave, large refrigerator/freezer, and full size electric stove. The bathroom has a full size shower with washer/dryer, and the large, enclosed private porch is a wonderful space for enjoying breakfast and gorgeous sunrises, or relaxing mid-afternoon naps on the futon, listening to the birds in the backyard and adjacent gardens. The neighborhood is a small town friendly community and you'll feel right at home!

About Katherine & Alan Pickering
The owners, Katherine and Alan Pickering are long-time Belfast residents. Katherine is currently the Harbor Master for the City of Belfast and has worked on Belfast Harbor for the past 28 years. Alan grew up in Belfast and spent much of his time flying around other various parts of the world as a pilot, eventually retiring from the Air Force and then as a commercial pilot. We both enjoy riding motor cycles and Alan spends a good deal of time sailing on Penobscot Bay.
Katherine & Alan Pickering purchased this Apartment in 1993
Why Katherine & Alan Pickering chose Belfast
Belfast, Maine is one of those rare towns that somehow grabs your interest and heart immediately. A number of first time visitors who even accidentally ended up finding themselves walking around the harbor and downtown, will tell stories of how the next thing they knew - they were looking for property or a way to live here. The friendly community atmosphere, history, art, wonderful library and YMCA, are all part of the attraction. Belfast has such a diverse and absolutely interesting community, that no matter who you are, you will find your niche. And it helps that no matter if you like the ocean, hiking the hills, or enjoying the country and farmland, the scenery is just breathtaking.
What makes this Apartment unique
Our home on Union St. is among one of the many neighborhoods in Belfast that is so friendly and enjoyable. It's very quiet with very little car traffic, so is used often for walking the dog, running, or an evening stroll down to the park or harbor. The location is only a few blocks from public parks that offer gorgeous views of the harbor, a walkway along the length of the harbor, the downtown with everything you could want from eating, shopping, a movie theater, and on and on. There is never a day that doesn't go by we don't feel so fortunate to live here.

Delightful Maine apartment
Just a wonderful stay. The apartment is lovingly renovated, combining the beauty of an older Maine home with modern amenities. Hosts / owners Kathy and Alan are delightful and helpful.
The winter view of the sea smoke on the Passagassawakeag River in the is so morning beautiful.
I look forward to staying here again.
Excellent Cozy Clean Comfortable
We loved the private sparkly clean updated ground floor apartment. It was well equipped with warm creatively designed wood floors. It was very handy being close to downtown and the coastal highway. We so enjoyed our time in Maine. Thanks.
Well done and clean
Loved Belfast. Property well done and immaculate. Very comfortable and close to downtown and harbor area. Enjoyed our stay in Belfast and loved Acadia National Park and surrounding areas. Jay and Kathy
Katherine and Alan were excellent hosts. The downstairs unit was beautifully done. It has all you need for a comfortable stay. It is in walking distance of the downtown and restaurants. 20 minutes from Cambden, 90 minutes to Bar Harbor, 55 minutes to Bangor. We would come back and stay again if in the area.
Thank you Katherine and Alan for a wonderful 5 days.
Quiet and very comfortable quant little place
Very pleased with our stay. Apartment was amazing and the owners were very nice. Wouldn't change a thing.
Apartment in Belfast
Charming apartment in older home for 2-3 adults. Small but updated kitchen, bath. Lots of light, view of bay. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. Owner on-site if any issues. Owner emphasis on quiet neighborhood, keep noise down after 9:00PM. Only drawback is lack of cable TV. Apartment had Roku TV and no access to live TV news except Internet.
Union St. is a very friendly neighborhood close to the harbor and downtown Belfast. Belfast is known as the Biggest Little City with a population of only about 6700, but with a community so friendly and vibrant it pulls visitors in before they know it. The downtown community, many parks overlooking the harbor, art, and beautiful sunrises and sunsets lend a perfect setting to enjoy and relax.
