About Monica Farrier
I purchased this cottage in 1994 and for many years it was my home and the location of my downtown massage therapy practice. Some may also be interested to know that the idea for my first children's book, The Secret of the Cottage Elves, came to me in 2000 when I was living here. It's a simple book with a local theme, and is still selling some 15 years after publication! Guests will find copies upstairs, along with the two books that followed. I love the charm and historic feel of this cottage, with its wood floors, high ceilings, and screen porch - my favorite place to hang out and enjoy the breeze on warm summer days.

Why Monica Farrier chose Petoskey
This is an excellent choice for those wanting to be near all the activities and attractions available in downtown Petoskey. Parking in downtown Petoskey can be hard to find, but guests can park in the driveway and walk or wheel to everything that makes Petoskey such a popular resort destination. In winter, guests are close to all the action downtown, despite the weather or driving conditions. This is a great choice for those wanting a private and cozy retreat downtown that serves as a "home base" while they explore all that the area has to offer.

We were looking for a get away that we would all enjoy. We found it here, some would not agree but after our summer the little bit of snow & cool temps. were quite appreciated. The colors were magnificent, the house was quite nice. The owner was very pleasant to communicate with & helped with every request. Any one that is looking for something special, please take a drive on M119.
Thank you for your review, Michael. A drive through the "Tunnel of Trees" along M-119 is a must in the fall. So glad that your trip coincided with the gorgeous colors we get in this area in October. Every season is beautiful here. Hope you will be back again soon!
Great Location and Home
Not only was this home neat, clean and in the heart of Petoskey, our hostess Monica welcomed us with a note, and refreshments on the dining room table. While this is an older home with lots of interesting history, it has been updated with new and modern facilities throughout. We would definitely recommend this place and will use it again whenever we need a place to stay in Petoskey.
Thank you, Betsy and Leo, for taking time to write this thoughtful review. I am happy to know that you found the cottage comfortable, and that you enjoyed staying there while visiting Petoskey. I hope you will be back again soon!
Sweetly decorated home Home made cookies upon arrival. Very close to all the Petosky attractions.
Clean. Warm and welcoming. Owner goes out of her way to open her home to guests and make them feel welcome.
Thank you for your review. I am pleased to know that you enjoyed my cottage. It gives me joy to share it with my wonderful guests!
Great Home next to Downtown Petoskey
We go to Petoskey every year for our end of summer getaway with our pets, and Monica's home next to downtown was exactly what we were looking for this year. The home was tidy and had everything exactly as described with an updated master bath on the main floor and spacious kitchen. The front garden was in full bloom and the photos and story inside about the bird rescue will warm the heart of any animal lovers.
Monica left us with welcoming gifts in the fridge and for our pets, which were a perfect start to a weekend of wonderful weather and experiencing the best of Petoskey. You are within three to four blocks of nearly everything you need from the Grain Train Natural Foods Market and the Friday Farmer's Market to evening dinners of street fare in the Back Lot and the upscale, sunset dining of the Palette Bistro. The Bear River Valley is two blocks away and was the perfect morning walk and a convenient shortcut to Little Traverse Bay and out onto the harbor and breakwater to catch some of the best sunsets on Lake Michigan.
We would recommend this house to anyone.
Thank you for taking time to write this thoughtful and detailed review. I am happy to know that you were pleased with your stay, and that you were able to enjoy so much of what downtown Petoskey has to offer. I hope you will be back again soon!
Wonderful location. Owner did not miss anything. Bottle of wine to cookies to treats for my dog!
Lovely redone Victorian. Screened porch was the best!

A wonderful summer getaway
I loved the Victorian home and interior furnishings. The historical character of the house is maintained while still providing renters with modern features, like cable, washer/dryer, up-to-date kitchen and A/C in living/bedrooms.
The location was perfect for walking everywhere - no driving necessary. Of course, the view of Little Traverse Bay was magnificent and right there in front of us everyday. Dining and shopping was great.
We enjoyed our Petoskey vacation very much!!
Thank you for your kind review, Sandra. You are welcome back any time!
