About the property

Private, Beautiful Home Close to Beach and Nehalem Bay State Park!

This wonderful Manzanita hideaway is just a block and a half from the beach and just a few blocks from the golf course on the south side of town. With a fully fenced yard and large wrap around deck, this is a wonderful set up if you are worried about little ones staying in the yard. The custom iron gate welcomes you onto the large front porch.

If light and bright is what you seek then this home is for you. The large windows, skylights and abundant amount of light make the vaulted living and dining room a wonderful place to be. The kitchen opens to the living and dining room with a large bar and plenty of seating. The bedroom on this floor is perfect for kids of any age with double bunk beds, TV and desk. Wifi included. The downstairs bathroom is large with a large custom tile walk-in shower and Japanese soaking tub.

The large open staircase invites you up to the loft area where you can enjoy the many games, books, cd's and movies this home has to offer. There is a very large bedroom at the end of the hall that has a queen bed, it's own deck with chairs, wet bar, and TV sitting area. The second bedroom upstairs is also big with a queen bed. Every room upstairs including the loft has skylights. The upstairs bathroom is beautiful with a large skylight located over the tub and shower.

The attached garage holds a few bikes, toys, kites, 3 sets of golf clubs - 2 adult and 1 child - and sand buckets for the family but our favorite part is the fire pit out back surrounded with benches and chairs waiting for a great marshmallow roast. Sea La Vie is a beautiful home, awaiting you and your family for a fun filled family beach vacation.

About Janet or Danielle

My name is Danielle and my husband Scot and I own a vacation rental company called Manzanita Beach Getaway in Manzanita Oregon. We started this business in 2011 with the intention to provide families and all guests with an amazing vacation rental experience in Manzanita and Neahkahnie. We have 3 young boys in school here and love the coastal life. We manage 30+ properties in Manzanita for various home owners. We use our own website for bookings so if interested in booking something, please call us or send an email. We are open 9am to 5:30pm closed Sundays and Holidays. We do check our emails and phone messages often. We are available for emergencies 24 hours a day. With help from our office manager Janet, we can help you find a home that fits your budget, location, taste and more. Please note that if you don't see current reviews, it's because reviews are now left by guests on our website not vrbo. Thank you.

Janet or Danielle purchased this house in 2005

Why Janet or Danielle chose Nehalem

'Sea La Vie' was built for the owner by a wonderful builder in Manzanita. The owner had this home built with the idea of having a great place to vacation while at the beach. She recently decided to share this beautiful home with the public in hopes that they will also make great beach vacation memories as well.

What makes this house unique

'Sea La Vie' is nicely located between the Manzanita Golf Course and Nehalem Bay State Park. With just a real short walk to the beach this home is perfect for families. The fenced in property with large deck and fire pit really make this property complete. The inside is beautifully decorated and has tons of games, books and movies for the family to stay entertained in the evenings or rainy days. One of our favorite things is the Japanese soaking tub downstairs. Come and relax and enjoy the beach in this beautiful home!

Guestbook comments from the manager

This house is a treasure and the owners have impeccable taste. The living room with the fireplace is such a cozy place to hang out and relax, comfortable couch and chair, and the kitchen is well stocked with brand new appliances and a lot of nice touches. There was absolutely nothing lacking. The bathrooms are huge, and the Japanese soak tub is a great feature and everyone in our family took advantage of it. The upstairs deck off of the master bedroom is also a great feature. The deck and backyard are a great place to hang out. The location one and a half blocks from the beach is an easy walk. This is one of our favorite houses we have stayed in in Manzanita.

This home has a fully fenced yard that wraps around the whole house, this is great for little ones and keeping them in when an adult is not outside. There is a large deck with fire pit, table and chairs, BBQ etc. This home is well taken care of and is like brand new. Manzanita has been described as a magical, breathtaking, and romantic place. Our small town attracts people from all over the world. The 7-mile, white sandy stretch of beach is a great place to run, walk, jog, or simply go beach combing. Manzanita Beach offers peace, relaxation and tranquility. Nestled between two State Parks, Manzanita, Oregon offers incredible beauty. Manzanita has a variety of great restaurants and cafes to try. We dare you, to try them all. You will receive great service and food. The shopping is also incredible with a variety of different stores.

Great everything...but the beds.

  • 4 of 5

The good: Good location...less than five minute walk to beach, VERY QUIET HOME, great downstairs shower...double shower heads and hot hot water. Lovely. Japanese soaking tub worth a try too. The upstaird bathroom just fine, unless you need to bathe your child. The shower doors are fixed and the tub is so deep that it's near impossible. The furnishings are nice, kitchen great and fireplace warm and cozy. There was an odd placed piano-seemed in the way but I know it's the owners home so I get that. There was a hot tub but it wasn't accessible for us (bummer) but we knew that ahead of time so no surprises.

The bad: so I hate saying bad things, but the beds...ALL of them are horrible. Not one nice thing to say about them. The sheets don't fit because they are double beds, not queens, the master bed is hard as a rock and I'm all for firm mattresses, but this is an ikea type mattress with no give, and the sheets kept sliding off because they weren't the right size. So we tried the second bedroom upstairs and we nicknamed it the taco bed. In an I'll attempt to improve that hard mattress, a foam pad was put on and makes it impossible to sleep two people in the bed. Again, the sheets didn't even fit the bed. Lastly, the downstairs double bed bunk bed combo thingy was a WATERBED. Nowhere in the info about the house was there a mention of waterbed. And this waterbed did not have a heater, and it was freezing temps at the coast and so needless to say, that bed was cold. It was also low, so if you were a heavier male, as our guest was, he sank into the frame. Disappointing for sure.

Lastly, there are no blinds in any windows except the guest bedroom window. The neighbors, folks walking by, the vinyls friction crew out front etc. Could see into our room, and there wasn't any were to hide. Also, no blinds on any other windows which made it difficult to have privacy if you needed it.

We let the property manager...who by the way was AWESOME...know, and she expressed understanding and said it was the homeowners reluctance to install blinds anywhere.

Good location, clean property, garage useful and cost living room but we probably won't return to hat house as the beds md privacy were a downer for sure.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your thorough review, we always appreciate the info. I am sorry that you felt the beds were uncomfortable. Mattresses are such a personal thing and it's hard to please everyone. They are new mattresses, just bought this year, so this may be why you thought they were firm. We did have mattress toppers in the house that are soft for people so there is option. They were located in bedroom closets. I can assure you that the master bedroom is a queen sized bed and the sheets are queen size sheets. We have never had that comment about the sheets before so I am surprised by that and also apologize. I will watch for this. The other bed is advertised as a full bed and had the topper on which could have been removed if too soft. As for the windows, the house is secluded so no neighbors but across the street and on the west side. Only need for blinds is in master bedroom upstairs. I will make sure these are added asap! Thanks again and we are so happy you enjoyed the homes amenities and the location. We hope you will come back to visit again in the near future.

Family Thanksgiving Beachtime

  • 4 of 5

Our family of eight spent a wonderful holiday at this lovely home. It had nice amenities except for the bed in the upstairs small bedroom, it was very uncomfortable for two- luckily there was a comfortable futon chair that could be folded to a twin bed. Our family took some cookware but we found the kitchen nicely equipped except for very dull knives. The home was very clean, comfortable and cozy on that stormy weekend; we loved the assortment of games, books and DVDs. We would stay there again, but seriously, they need to replace that mattress in the smaller upstairs bedroom. We loved having a well equipped laundry room too. The town is a nice stroll away and the beach is nearby. We look forward to a summertime stay to enjoy the lovely yard, deck and upstairs balcony.

Owner's Response: Thanks Susan, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay at our home. I am sorry to hear about the bed. That bed actually has a brand new mattress but there is a gel topper on it which could easily be removed (I removed it after your departure). We have it on as an option for people who like a softer mattress. Just know that in the future, you can remove it if it's on. We hope you are able to come back and visit again real soon. Happy Holidays, Danielle

Clean, lovely and so close to the beach!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for two nights over a spring break vacation and despite it being a holiday, the beach was never crowded! The house was lovely, with tons to keep you entertained when not roaming the beach or checking out the town of Manzanita. The entire house was spotless yet cozy, with lovely tiled bathrooms and a great fireplace. The Netflix already set up on the TV provided us with an ample movie selection and entertainment. The house was roomy the porches were terrific for eating outside in the sun (I know, what a treat for the Oregon Coast!).

The house was fully equipped with cooking utensils and had a washer and dryer which made washing all of our sandy towels and clothes before heading home very easy!

The only strange thing about this rental was the total lack of blinds/curtains, even in the bedrooms, which was a little odd considering the master bedroom has big sliding glass door facing the street but overall the house was terrific! I will definitely be booking here again when I return to Manzanita!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your recommendations about the window coverings in the master bedroom. All bedrooms have blinds except that one. It's up pretty high but I could see the concern. I will speak with the owner and see about putting up some drapes. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you back again in the future. Thanks, Danielle

Not Your Typical Beach House!

  • 5 of 5

This home was absolutely beautiful! It's very bright and extremely well furnished. The details throughout the house, including the single person soaking tub, really makes it feel like a home. The kitchen had everything I needed to fix meals for my family. The outside deck was well enjoyed by my kids. The outdoor hot tub was perfect for unwinding at the end of the day. The beach was a very short stroll away, while the main strip of shops was about 20 minutes walking distance. I definitely will be coming back again this summer!

peaceful, relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

Such a beautiful place! We really enjoyed our stay. The house is cozy, inviting and warm. It was very rainy that weekend, but no worries, there was plenty of games, books, dvds, puzzles to keep us busy and we even took some well deserved naps!! The sun did show its self and when it did we were able to sneak outside onto the wooden deck and enjoy the sun and the beautiful trees surrounding the house.

Our family looks forward to staying here again soon.

Our home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

It's rare that a family of 5 finds a vacation spot that fits each family member as well as this vacation home & its location in Manzanita do for our family! We return a couple of times a year to walk (or ride horses) on the beach, bike in the state park (minutes from this house), golf (there's a golf course AND driving range minutes from this property), explore adorable Manzanita, or relax in this super cozy & comfortable home. The gated yard allows my kids some secure outdoor space & we love to sit by the fire pit at night. Inside, there is enough room so each person has some space if needed yet cozy enough that we can play games or enjoy a family meal. It's clean, well cared for & convenient. I couldn't ask for a better vacation rental for me & my family!
