Immaculate inside and out
Clean and cozy inside, plenty of space and well maintained out. Great wrap-around porch. Clean, stocked pond, fire pit (wood provided!!) and area for target shooting or blasting clay pigeons. Perfect for a get-a-way. About 15 minute drive to Malta/Mc Connelsville if you need to restock provisions.
It’s well water and smells like it’s got sulphur. So, not really good for drinking (fine for showering), but they provide you with plenty of bottled water for drinking, cooking and coffee (Kuereg and other coffee maker).
Cell coverage is slim to none, no internet. I have ATT on my personal cell and had to drive about 10 minutes to get a signal. I have Verizon on my work cell and was able to get a bar up by the pond and at the end of the driveway. There is a house phone where people can call in an emergency.
All in all, me and my pals loved the place. Highly recommend.
A very accommodating and welcoming owner/property manager. Everything we need was available. Very remote and private, which is what we were looking for. We had a great time fishing, landing several good sized catfish. Great property, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Peaceful and Relaxing
Had a wonderful time. Place is very clean and well furnished. Enjoyed fishing and watching the wildlife from the back porch. We had a storm come through and knock out the power for a couple hours. The owner and property manager responded quickly in reporting it and bringing us candles and restarting water pump. Our only complaint was the House water. It had a strong unfavorable Oder almost sewer like if you tired to use hot water. Every time we washed dishes or went to shower it stunk up the whole house. We did find use cool water and no smell. The manager said water was well water and there was nothing wrong with. Even with the water smell it would not stop us from renting again! It was very nice just not something we were use to
Very clean and comfortable
Great place to get away. Comfortable and clean. Definitely plan to return!
Wonderful place to relax and get away from it all
We had an absolute blast swimming and having nightly bonfires. Kids of course enjoyed the rope swing and running all over. The accommodations were clean and perfect for our size group. Thanks for the welcoming place and all the amenities.
Excellent place to stay we could not have asked for anything better .
Our group of four enjoyed our trip immensely . The home was more than comfortable. Plenty of room and very relaxing . Could not have found better place the owner and the caretaker where very accomadating . They where very accessible if you needed anything and most helpful . The place was excellent didn't need a thing well cared for . If we are back down this way we would most definitely try to stay here again
During your stay at our beautiful Wilderness retreat you will be in near isolation from the outside world. You will have all the amenities of a luxury hotel but will be not be bothered with the sights and sound of the city. There is many historical sites that can be visited while you stay at our retreat. Some people like to visit the historic twin cities of Malta and Mconnellsville. These two cities are a battle site of the civil war. But most that stay with us will be inclined to just relax on the property. You can swim or fish in our 2 acre fully stocked pond. You can go on long nature walks through the rippling slate bottom creeks. Or you can make a warming campfire in front of the house and sit and make S mores and fire pies until it is time for bed. Ohio is also very well known for its world renowned white tail deer. We have hunting specials available for all of the hunting seasons. Whether you are chasing the elusive Turkey or the legendary Big white tail Buck than this is the hunting retreat for you, as we have over 45 acres that backs directly into the Wayne National Forest.
