A Perfect Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 nights in the quaint town of Herbster and loved it! Red House Hollow is a peaceful and cozy cottage and the owner is just delightful! We were blessed with beautiful fall weather and the trees were amazing everywhere we went. Lake Superior can be seen when you stand outside on the deck and it beckons you to come walk its beach. A huge plus for us and one we really appreciated was the fact that the owner allows dogs! Hope to be back soon!

A Wonderful Experience!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Red House Hollow was amazing! The host was gracious, the property was well-kept, Lake Superior was just a step away and we could not have enjoyed our getaway more. The Town of Herbster is quaint, but comfortable and everything is within walking distance. To be quite honest, it was almost as stepping back in time. The motto there is, "Relax, you're in Herbster," and that pretty much says it all! We cannot wait to return next year, and for many years to come.

perfect stay in a cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 6 days and didn't regret it. It is a good starting point for kayaking to the caves (just 8 miles to one of the organisations organizing trips), to visit Bayfield and the Island, a nice inn not far away for a good dinner or breakfast, wunderful quiet beach just 150m from the cottage. The cottage is also nice if the weather is bad (we had one day of rain). The owner is very friendly and helpful.

Awesome Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 2 nights but would've loved to stay longer! The cottage was awesome! It came with towels, sheets, dishes and so much more items to use that we didnt have to pack that was a huge plus! It is very roomy and pleasant with a nice deck to relax on. Best of all was the beach was only 1 1/2 blocks away! I would recommend this cottage to anyone!

Great location to many attractions including the Cornucopia Sea and Ice Caves.

  • 5 of 5

We got caught up in the ice cave hysteria this past winter and decided to come up from Southern Wisconsin for a visit. We stayed at Red House Hollow (10 minutes from the ice caves) and were very satisfied with the accommodations. Red House Hollow is clean and quaint with modern amenities including cable television and wifi. But we weren't watching the tele; We were out exploring the now world renowned ice caves minutes down the road! We plan to come back to Red House Hollow this summer to explore the sea caves by kayak.

Red House Hollow is a unique gem.

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Red House Hollow last summer and must say it exceeded my expectations. Clean, quaint and very quiet with lots of room, tasteful paintings on the walls, French doors that open to a private deck and 30 seconds to an expansive beach and beautiful Lake Superior. You really get the feeling you're in a sea side beach community. Lots of activity at the beach but peace and quiet at the cottage. You can also walk to the popular Woodies restaurant and the convenience store or the few shops in town. This location is truly ideal.

I would recommend this to anyone who wants a very accessible and beautiful getaway while being close to many area attractions including the Cornucopia Sea Caves, Bayfield and the Apostle Islands.

I plan to come back this summer.
