Our property is a short walk(1500 yards) down the road from Lily Dale which is the largest spiritualist community in the world. Our family has deep roots in both Lily Dale and Cassadaga village as the founders of each. The property was bought from the Holland Land Company in 1813 by Icabod Fisher. The house was built in 1879 by my Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather John Fisher. The land that Lily Dale is built on was bought from John in the late 1800's. Corydon B. Turner, one of the original founders of Lily Dale, was my Great, Great, Great Grandfather. The house is an old farm house with a total of 6 Bedrooms and a nursery. You'll find that many of our furnishings date back to the early 1900's and some even to the 1800's. The kitchen table that is still in use was built by my Great, Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather in 1861 as a wedding present for John and Ann Fisher. One of the bedrooms is locked for our personal use. Our home is very cozy and will remind you of a time long past. If you appreciate antiques, you won't be disappointed! We only ask that you please treat our furnishings as your own. I plan to maintain the history for my family and pass this treasure to my children and grandchildren to enjoy in years to come. Our house manager, Kathy, lives across the street and should be easily accessible should you have any problems or questions.
We have a strict limit of 12 people for the house. My property manager lives accross the street and we use this to limit noise and due to the house only having two bathrooms. About Solomon Knicely
My wife, two children and I live in Franklin located in the Northwest suburbs of Detroit. I work in the area and my wife is a high school counselor and biology teacher who now takes care of our 1 y/o and 3 y/o full time. My family moved to this region from Princeton and were some of the first settlers in this area. The property has been owned by my family and passed down since 1813.
Solomon Knicely purchased this House in 1813
Why Solomon Knicely chose Cassadaga
I have been coming here my whole life and it is a very special place to myself and my family. After the death of my grandmother and mother in close succession, I have inherited the house and have been maintaining it since 2006. We love the place, but it is costly to maintain we and hope to rent it to people who will love and enjoy it as much as we do to help defer some of these costs.
What makes this House unique
Many of our furnishings date to the early 1900's and later 1800's. You won't find anything in the county with more history than you'll see in our home. The kitchen table that is still in use was built in 1861 by my great, great, great, great, great grandfather. This is likely my most cherished possession. The location is perfectly situated adjacent to the lower of the three interconnected Cassadaga lakes.

Great for large groups
We enjoyed our stay at the Cassadaga house very much. Plenty of space for a large group to spread out , and we enjoyed making use of the outdoor fire pit.
Very Clean, Spacious, and Comfortable ~ no A/C but plenty of fans!!!
Very Clean, Spacious, and Comfortable ~ no A/C but plenty of fans!!! Fully stocked with plenty of towels, and supplies. Interesting decor ~ absolutely loved it!
Beautiful, Unique and Most Accommodating
My family loved the place. The downstairs was sumptuous with a large parlor, dinning room, kitchen and two sun rooms. Upstairs, the bedrooms were lovely and the beds were very comfortable. The house is well-equipped for small children with toys, small chairs and gates throughout. It has a "cook's" kitchen, which was a big deal for our family. Each member had a "dinner night" and competed to see who could present the best meal. We especially loved the many pictures and artifacts that this family had collected over the decades. The nearby county beach is sandy and Cassadaga Lake is sparkly clean. Five stars.
Cozy and Inviting!!
This felt like a trip to grandma's house!! All of the beautiful decor and individually decorated rooms with interesting antiques was like a very cool trip back in time. The house was perfectly clean and we had everything we needed! Would absolutely recommend renting, perfect for large families!
thanks! Glad it worked well for you.
Great Place to stay!
This is our family's second time staying here. We just love the house and the location. The house is very comfortable and accommodating. The beds are really comfortable and the kitchen has all the dishes and appliances you need to make all of your meals. We love the privacy of the bedrooms upstairs and the open, airy space downstairs to visit, play games and watch TV together.
Annual Ladies Weekend: This home WORKS!
Working with the owner and manager of this rental always works out very well for us; they are receptive, professional and friendly. The home is clean and everything you would need is there. Extra blankets? No problem. Coffee maker, casserole pans, freezer, washer and dryer? Yes, yes,yes and yes. With several ladies spending the weekend together we NEED two full bathrooms and this home offers exactly that. It's a nice touch that they have a bottle of wine waiting when you arrive, the manager is near by if you have a problem, but they absolutely respect your privacy during your stay. We winery hop & Lily Dale visit and shop while we stay here and the location is PERFECT. Of course, we will be back!
Our property is a short walk(1500 yards) down the road from Lily Dale Assembly which is the largest spiritualist community in the world. The Chautauqua Institution is a 20 minute drive away and features frequent fine arts activities and concerts. Niagara falls in about a one hour drive from the house with many tourist activities. More than 30 Vineyards are within a 10-45 minute drive of the house and most offer free wine tastings. Maps are available at the house next the the couch on the side porch. Our house manager, Kathy, lives across the street and should be easily accessible should you have any problems or questions.
