About the property

2000 sq.ft adobe w/2 bdrms and 2 baths -sleeps 4 + 1000 sq.ft casita - sleeps 2

What comes to mind with the words 'New Mexico' ....'gorgeous skies'? ....and 'Taos'?...... Maybe: open space , sun and light , color , inspiration YES!!! All of the above...... and much more. All can be enjoyed from our home - both indoors and out.

Our 3000 sq. ft home is made up of 2 units: the first one is our main home (2000 sq. ft.) which has a large master bedroom (king-size bed) with full attached bath and cozy kiva fireplace; a second bedroom/study with a single bed/couch (a trundle bed that makes up into 2 twins or converts to a king-size bed) with attached bath and separate shower, and a large open space -kitchen/dining/livingroom w/another woodburning kiva fireplace. There is also an attached sunroom w/passive solar heating to enjoy a sunny winter day at home. During summer and Fall, you'll probably always spend you time out doors - either enjoying the many outdoor activities that Taos has to offer (although close to town, we're right on the edge of Taos canyon for some great hikes), or just enjoying a barbeque on the 'portal' or sunset margaritas in the gazebo.

The second unit is a 1000 sq. ft casita - one bedroom, bath, kichen and living/dining room with it's own private courtyard.

Excellent home for a week in very interesting Taos New Mexico

  • 5 of 5

My wife and really enjoyed our mid October stay in the Fernandez Hideaway. The home is a beautiful adobe style with very open floor plan and large rooms - ceilings too high to measure but must be 16 feet. Truly interesting with colonial and hacienda touches throughout including a sun room, radiant heat tiled floors, two kiva style fireplaces. I loved the work space with window wall in the 2nd bedroom which for our stay doubled as great place for the laptop. I went out to experience the dark night sky every night including the Orinid meteor shower and colorful sunsets. A week is about what it takes to absorb all the small "finds" throughout the house. The home has neighbors but they're almost unseen. The lot is spacious and the native vegetation and low adobe walls give it a secluded feeling plus the elevation above Taos with mountains just east make for an interesting location that's only a couple of miles from the Plaza. Kitchen is well supplied with not just the basics but the extras you'd find at home. Loved the two cultures- Pueblo and Spanish and the arts and crafts that Taos and Santa Fe are famous for. Fall colors still on display down the Rio Grande - aspens past their prime at higher elevations in 3rd week of October. Puye cliff dwellings, Los Alamos, Cumbres and Toletc Railroad, Santa Fe all were easy and varied day trips from Taos plus the many offerings in Taos: Taos Pueblo, The Plaza, La Fonda Hotel lobby, the Martinez Hacienda, Millicent Rogers Museum, Earthship, Kit Carson House, and many more galleries than we could absorb in a week. Taos is a great destination - small town with lots to see and do. Fernandez Hideaway the perfect place to base a Taos stay.

Beauty is in the details

  • 5 of 5

This home was built with relaxation and absorbing the natural beauty, fully in mind. The humming birds flittering about in the early morning, the gazebo has panoramic views where we enjoyed our morning coffee, the large deck faces west to catch every sunset and star-filled night sky, the artwork in strategically placed little cubbies, the doors alone and surrounding jams were works of art! The location was perfect: close to town but far enough away (and up toward the mountains) to feel completely removed from the world. The fireplace provided the ancient peace of calming visual meditation coupled with conversation and a glass of wine. The fully fenced yard was fantastic for our golden to explore the new terrain without worrying about her venturing off too far. Everything we needed in the kitchen was provided (I am a chef, and wanted for nothing). Each room is spacious and the high ceilings offer a wonderful sense of grandness. We visited in the summer heat yet never felt uncomfortable in the home; the high ceilings allowing heat to rise and the screened windows and doors providing wonderful cross-breezes. The nights were breezy and even a little brisk. Every piece of furniture comfortably perfect for its purpose. We will be returning frequently to this magical home in such an enchanting place.

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed our stay in Gloria's home in Taos. It was an easy and short drive to the plaza, restaurants and shopping. But, also, great place to kick back, relax on the huge porch watching birds and squirrels or reading.

Only minor glitch was the lack of hot water at one of the sinks in the master bath.

Absolutely perfect!

Great stay! Beautiful, private, clean, relaxing, no hassle. Would recommend bringing a blue tooth speaker- we forgot. Didn't need anything else. Garden/sunroom was our favorite. Can't wait to go back!

Relaxing and a great getaway

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay, very roomy and relaxing. A price of quietness yet close to everything you need. My wife, son and I had a fantastic weekend here and we will definitely come back. Very nice rooms and sunroom. I'd give it 5 stars but the only thing we didn't like was the feeling of being rushed due to the housekeeper being outside 45 minutes before check out waiting for us to go. Other than that a fantastic place to get away too. Thanks for the stay

A beautiful home in quiet surroundings.

  • 5 of 5

We rented this beautiful home for a couple of weeks in July. A very quiet place where hummingbirds and many kind of birds sing and nest. Despite the cool air and a regular afternoon rain, we could enjoy the outdoors most of the time and visited valleys and mountains as much as we could, played golf and took advantage of some wonderful restaurants. Gloria the owner has been extremely nice and provided us with everything, even zero gravity chairs to rest outdoors.

The house is very large and quite comfortable. It was a treat to be able to live with open doors and windows coming from 105F in Scottsdale Arizona.

We warmly recommend this place.
