About David Dafashy
I'm a physician at the College of William and Mary. My wife is an Italian tour guide and real estate agent. We love travelling, learning new languages and being in the great outdoors. I met my wife while on a grand tour of Italy and we now live blissfully in beautiful Williamsburg, Virginia

Why David Dafashy chose Kure Beach
This house is an instant charmer. It's classy but unassuming and you are reminded in every room of why we so many of us seem genetically programmed to love the sound of the sea. The view is breathtaking, the surrounding town incredibly charming, and the whole ambience one of laid-back leisure. You will walk away thinking about what an incredible value it is, and wanting to return.

Perfect location; unit needs work
Spacious duplex right on the beach but tired and in need of many repairs primarily in the kitchen and living room. Beautiful beach and lovely community. The aquarium is a must visit.
Reasonable but not gorgeous oceanfront home
Generally, we enjoyed our stay at this property. But, we did find the reviews not quite accurate. There is no outdoor shower which is very unfortunate as it is impossible to not get sand on the floor in the floor in the house. It would have been nice to have had a grill so that we could grill outdoors. We watched our neighbors with envy. Since linens (towels and bed linens) are not provided, it was very difficult for those going with me as they were all from Europe; this should be standard. While the interior appears to have been painted, this is clearly the poor relation in comparison to other properties to the south as the outside is in desperate need of painting and repairs. We would have appreciated much better descriptions of the property. We expected a duplex but had no idea that in addition to someone beside, we would have someone below. It was also confusing as to which door or lockbox to use. It would have been nice to have an umbrella or some kind of shade over the back porch but perhaps that is being considered. We bought (and left) an umbrella. Overall, this was an okay property but we will select another one next time.
Location, location, location
This unit was in a great best part was, you guessed it location. Access to the beach great 10+. Made you really feel like you owned you own slice of heaven. You can tell the owner has put a lot into getting this older unit back going again. Cleanliness 8+. I cant complain too much about some minor inconvenience, but I will list them so you can make an informed decision. Bugs, ants and cockroaches were a daily issue. We probably killed 50 ants and 12 cockroaches. This is to be expected staying in the south, but some regular spraying would peobably help. Mattresses were quite poor, deffently of the budget variety. Suprised to see them sitting on 4x4 post. Electric can be an issue, tripping the circuits several times. A few outlets dont work at all. Ice machine in fridge was inconsistent as well. Out door shower area has eroded a hole in the side of the house. Overall we had a great time. With a little effort this can be a great house for those on a budget looking for ocean front.
Great family vacation beach house
We enjoy staying at the Blue Dolphin for the 2ND time.. It is in a small beach town close to a pier (walking distance) , Fort Fisher and Carolina Beach (close enought to ride a bike). The house is ocean front with three nice bedrooms and 3 nice baths. The kitchen has everything you need to cook all meals at home. The dining room has an awesome view of the beach as does the deck. The living room is very roomy. The whole house is very comfortable. No hastle to get to the beach as it is truly ocean front. There is a great neighborhood across the street to walk or ride bikes. The owner David is great to work with. Parking is interesting as maybe 2 medium size cars can park in the drive but you can usually get parking on the street out front with little problem.
A Relaxing Spot On The Beach
We had a great time! We were looking for a place to rest and relax and this place fit the bill. If you are looking for a beach front house, in a nice area, that offers a quiet location this is for you.
So glad you had a great time!! We thank you for choosing to stay at the Blue Dolphin and hope you will consider us for future beach vacations!
Enjoyed our Stay
Just returned from a week with perfect weather. In my opinion, you cannot beat this price for an oceanfront rental. The location is close to the pier. The home is lovely inside, and has more furnishings than the pictures here suggest. The kitchen amenities are sufficient for basic cooking, although you may want to bring your own knives. We ate at Freddies which is close by and the food was wonderful.
Thank you for your review!! We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We will be sure to take inventory of the kitchen this fall and stock it appropriately so that your next stay will be even better!! Thanks for staying with us.
Beautiful 3 bedroom 2 full and 2 half bath home directly on the oceanfront. 2 bedrooms are masters, with a large third bedroom. Beautiful second floor balcony with large 1st level large deck with jaw-dropping oceanfront views.
