I've lived in Washington state my entire life, and in Winthrop for the past 10 years. My partner and I moved to Winthrop after graduating from WWU in Bellingham. We had an opportunity to help his mother run the family business- River Run Inn, and it seemed like a dream come true; the opportunity to live and work year round in an amazing place- the Methow Valley. We love living here and sharing this beautiful valley with visitors!
Leia Hansen purchased this house in 1996
My mother in law purchased this property and moved to the area in 1996. She had visited the area in the past camping with her family and fell in love with the natural beauty of the river and mountains. When her kids moved off to college she decided she was ready for a change and began looking for business opportunities outside of the Seattle area, after months of looking all over the Northwest for an inn or B& B to purchase she came across River Run Inn and fell in love with this amazing spot on the river. The location was perfect- walking distance to downtown Winthrop, yet secluded and peaceful. She envisioned a restful retreat- a place where people would come to unwind, mesmerized by the beauty of the river.
Our guest house is big enough to accommodate a large family or group, with 6 bedrooms, a big kitchen and a living room looking out to the river. We love the porch swings on both sides of the house- one for the morning sun and one on the river side. Our property is beautifully manicured with lawns stretching from the buildings to the river's edge. Hammocks invite you to relax by the river.
The Methow Valley is an outdoorsmen's paradise. Hundreds of miles of trails invite you to explore on skis, bikes or foot. Take in alpine lakes framed by granite spires, raft white water, fish for steelhead. World class recreation is at your doorstep.
Our guest house is off the beaten path, yet walking distance to the bustle of historic downtown Winthrop, where wooden boardwalks, hitching posts and store facades recreate the western frontier of the late 1800's. After a day of adventure you will appreciate the Methow Valley's vibrant arts community with live music, fine restaurants, art galleries and outdoor markets.
