Our home sits on a tidal marsh. This means at medium to high tide you can launch a non or motorized water craft, (kayak, canoe, jet ski, boat, etc.) from the backyard. This water will access the waterways, creeks and even the ocean. * Cannot get in on low tide.

Very disappointed

  • 1 of 5

We were really looking forward to staying at this property. Terry was great to work with prior to our arrival, however, he has avoided us since because he has yet to return our security deposit. When we arrived at the house on the first day, we were disappointed by the "cleaning" done. There were dirty dishes in the cupboard, crumbs etc in the silverware drawers, disgusting filth under the tray in the refrigerator water dispenser, peed on mattress covers on 2 of the beds that once we washed them came out clean, filthy hand prints on slider door glass in basement, pink slime filth in master bath shower floor, upstairs hallway carpet was so incredibly dirty (granted we were there at the end of the season, but they looked like they had not been cleaned in years) and the inside of some of the kitchen drawers and cupboards were not clean . I reported this to the owner, Terry, and he said that he had heard similar complaints in the past. Go figure. The pool table frame fell off on one side, not by our doing, but due to a very shoddy repair job in the past. Also, we were told that the pool was 4 feet deep, but was actually 3 feet deep; not a huge deal but just added to the overall disappointment of the place. Then to top it off we have yet to have our security deposit returned. I have called and texted Terry more times than I care to mention and he initially answered by saying he would drop a check in the mail to us. After ample time had passed, I contacted him again. He again promised to send it out at the end of September. Still nothing and he is no longer answering my calls or texts. We actually had to report this to VRBO to assist us in getting our security deposit back and they suggested writing a review. It really is a beautiful house, but I would never return there again even if it were clean. I have used VRBO for years and never had any problems with rentals.

Beach week 2015

  • 4 of 5

Loved our week in this house! The views are awesome. Guys had fun taking the john boat out to fish. Spent a lot of time in the pool. Also took grand babies to the beach which was a short drive. Would recommend this house.

Multi-generational bunch

  • 5 of 5

Great home for all ages. Plenty of porch space to enjoy marsh view and dine outside. Lots of space inside and out. Home owner was easy to contact and wished us a safe trip home. We rented kayaks which was a highlight of the trip. Kids enjoyed pool and easily entertained them. Very private with lots of parking space.

Relaxation Central

  • 5 of 5

After many trips to OIB we altered our rental habits and opted for this property instead. And what a fantastic choice it turned out to be. Seclusion, peace and quiet, beautiful marsh-life views--just what a weary, worn out family needed. This spacious, multi-level property offers privacy and amenities galore. Our nieces and nephews claimed the pool-side "man cave" for their own, while the grown-ups frequented the second-level deck for coffee and conversation. The fire pit glowed several evenings bringing the whole clan together for some priceless family time. The guys exercised our NuCanoe throughout the marsh while the girls walked all over the neighborhood. All in all, great house, perfect location, regenerative trip--highly recommended.

Great family vacation! Perfect for multiple families!

  • 5 of 5

My family of five (including three young boys) stayed here with my two sisters in law and their respective families as well as my mother and father in law. Total there were four adult couples and seven children ranging from 6 months to 8 years. And yet the house had plenty of room! We did not know what to expect since this was the first time we brought everyone together for a week under the same roof (we all live in different parts of the country.) However, everyone had an amazing time! It started by everyone getting in a relaxed frame of mind due to the STUNNING water views throughout the house and nicely done outdoor area with the pool, plenty of patio and lunge space, plus the beautifully done game room with a bar and pool table. We also made good use of the outdoor fire place and spent our evenings talking and laughing by the fire. I think the large amount of space in the house helped keep our spirits high as well because we all had our own private bedroom areas which were pretty isolated to the extent that those who needed naps etc could do so. That said, we also had plenty of common areas when we did want to gather as a group. The house is a five minute drive to a nice beach and 40 or so to the many attractions of myrtle beach. We would not change the location because the house offers tons of privacy with easy access to bigger attractions. Lastly, Terry is extremely easy and helpful to work with. We will be back next year!

Best home I have stayed in at Ocean Isle Beach!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Awesome place to stay. My family and I had the best time with the breathtaking views and private location. The house is a few minutes from popular sites such as shopping and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and very cozy. We all enjoyed the activities you could do without leaving the house, like swimming pool, gym, and pool table! We would recommend this home to everyone it is worth every penny times ten! Wish everyone as wonderful of as a stay that we experienced!
