About Hartt Goldman

My name is Hartt and I grew up at the Beach House near the town of Amherstburg. I have since lived in a number of places throughout Ontario, California, Montreal, BC but I come back every year with my wife, Barbara, and our kids to spend some time at this special spot where Lake Erie meets the Detroit River. Every season offers an up close view of nature along the Great Lakes. From the wind-whipped sand bars and migrations in autumn, to the ice-castles of winter, or the budding spring in the adjacent wetlands and of course the incredible summer sunsets. It is an inspirational spot that is close to Amherstburg’s historical small town charm and amenities but a world away from our busy, modern lives.

Hartt Goldman purchased this house in 2010

Why Hartt Goldman chose Amherstburg

This house has been in my family since the 60s. Now we enjoy it as a cottage and a base to reconnect with family and friends in Southern Ontario. It is wonderful to be able to frolic with my kids in the water, play games on the large yard, enjoy beach fires, watch fireflies etc etc just like when I was youngster. The setting is also ideal for creative pursuits and has been used by songwriters (myself included), artists and others as a creative retreat.

What makes this house unique

The beach and the lake are right outside your door. The sights and sounds of lakeside life really set the Beach house apart. The spacious house and property can comfortably accommodate large groups with both recreation and relaxation in mind. It's close to quaint, historic Amherstburg, Essex county's "Wine Route", and it's a great launching point for activities in Windsor or Detroit areas. The setting itself is an incredible spot to see birds (Herons, Eagles, and many more), watch lake freighters navigate into or out of the Detroit river, and reconnect with nature.

Nice visit!

Six of us spent a nice visit in Amherstburg. The cottage was a great base camp for adventures in the area.

Great weekend stay!

  • 5 of 5

This house was large enough to comfortably accommodate the seven of us on our Girlfriend Getaway. The view from the deck was beautiful, and thankfully the weather allowed us to use it. Having three bathrooms was certainly a plus! Will definitely book this house again if we decide to return to that area.

conveniently central to every location

  • 4 of 5

This cottage is right on Lake Erie close to the mouth of the Detroit River with frequently passing ships exciting young & older alike. Not only is it easily accessible from the 401 but it gave us lots of room for a nice family Thanksgiving dinner. This cottage is very close to Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery our celebration venue and all other locations in Amherstburg, as well as LaSalle where we needed to be. Our wonderful family time was hosted by a very understanding & accommodating Mr Hartt Goldman - thanks for your quick responses & for renting to us. Best wishes for the future.

New Memories 2017

  • 5 of 5

I rented this house for a week to spend some quality time with my family that I don't get to see very often. It provided everything we needed and so much more. The space is perfect for large gatherings, every room provided a new surprise, it was so much fun watching the kids play at the beach and the sunsets were some of the most beautiful I've every seen. The house might not have all the grand updates of some rental properties but I think that's what made it more comfortable for us, we turned it into our home for a week. We called this trip "New Memories 2017" as we hope to make this the first of many trips back to 1820 Erie Ave., where we can gather, catch up and watch the kids flourish. Thank you for your most generous hospitality Hartt. Til next time.

We're looking forward to having you back to make more memories and maybe we'll even cross paths out West sometime!

Wonderful time!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this house in the last week of August. The house was well stocked and big enough for our four families to get together. Our only complaint was that the lake was so high, the beach was non-existent, but of course, that goes with staying on a lake and is out of all of our control. The scenery was so beautiful and we LOVED the big porch with two tables, so that our whole family could enjoy meals on the porch.
