About Hartt Goldman
My name is Hartt and I grew up at the Beach House near the town of Amherstburg. I have since lived in a number of places throughout Ontario, California, Montreal, BC but I come back every year with my wife, Barbara, and our kids to spend some time at this special spot where Lake Erie meets the Detroit River. Every season offers an up close view of nature along the Great Lakes. From the wind-whipped sand bars and migrations in autumn, to the ice-castles of winter, or the budding spring in the adjacent wetlands and of course the incredible summer sunsets. It is an inspirational spot that is close to Amherstburg’s historical small town charm and amenities but a world away from our busy, modern lives.
Hartt Goldman purchased this House in 2010
Why Hartt Goldman chose Amherstburg
This house has been in my family since the 60s. Now we enjoy it as a cottage and a base to reconnect with family and friends in Southern Ontario. It is wonderful to be able to frolic with my kids in the water, play games on the large yard, enjoy beach fires, watch fireflies etc etc just like when I was youngster. The setting is also ideal for creative pursuits and has been used by songwriters (myself included), artists and others as a creative retreat.
What makes this House unique
The beach and the lake are right outside your door. The sights and sounds of lakeside life really set the Beach house apart. The spacious house and property can comfortably accommodate large groups with both recreation and relaxation in mind. It's close to quaint, historic Amherstburg, Essex county's "Wine Route", and it's a great launching point for activities in Windsor or Detroit areas. The setting itself is an incredible spot to see birds (Herons, Eagles, and many more), watch lake freighters navigate into or out of the Detroit river, and reconnect with nature.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Beach House
This was the perfect spot for our family reunion. Everything we needed was there and felt like home. I like that the shops are not to far away. The sunsets are to die for!
Exactly as described!
We stayed at the Beach House in December for a family Christmas party in Amherstburg. It sure looks like a great spot for a summer gathering with the nice deck and upstairs sunroom. The house has many different gathering spots for talking and playing games. We thought our off-season rate was very reasonable and we were very satisfied.
Great House Fantastic Location
My family and I stayed in this house on a weekend getaway for a Red Wings game in Detroit. The house had plenty of room for all of us and located in a beautiful location. It was just south of Amherstburg, which is a nice little town. The owners were friendly and accommodating. Will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area.
Six of us spent a nice visit in Amherstburg. The cottage was a great base camp for adventures in the area.
Thanks for staying with us Ruth! I'm so glad your group had fun exploring the area - please come back and explore some more!
Great weekend stay!
This house was large enough to comfortably accommodate the seven of us on our Girlfriend Getaway. The view from the deck was beautiful, and thankfully the weather allowed us to use it. Having three bathrooms was certainly a plus! Will definitely book this house again if we decide to return to that area.
Thanks for staying with us Diane! I'm so happy that you and your girlfriends enjoyed the Beach house and the area. We'd love to have you stay with us again and explore some more!
conveniently central to every location
This cottage is right on Lake Erie close to the mouth of the Detroit River with frequently passing ships exciting young & older alike. Not only is it easily accessible from the 401 but it gave us lots of room for a nice family Thanksgiving dinner. This cottage is very close to Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery our celebration venue and all other locations in Amherstburg, as well as LaSalle where we needed to be. Our wonderful family time was hosted by a very understanding & accommodating Mr Hartt Goldman - thanks for your quick responses & for renting to us. Best wishes for the future.
Thanks for staying with us Richard! I'm so glad you were able to enjoy Thanksgiving at the Beach House in addition to your local celebrations. Come back any time!
