Osage House Rental Photos and Description

Picture this. It’s a cool summer evening and you're lying on a soft blanket which has been spread so carefully on a lawn that gently slopes to a sandy beach, which continues onto the shoreline of Toad Lake. As you gaze upward to the evening sky, you take in the gentle glow of the moon as you play a game of connect the dots with the stars. As you breathe in the smells of the night the methodical lapping of the waves on the shoreline slowly and gently lull you to sleep. You smile as you hear the startled shriek of a child startled by a bug and cover your head as children taunt you with a frog. Then, just as quickly they disappear to engage in a game of hide and go seek. With your fingers wrapped around your coffee cup, you take a sip and watch the lights of boat coming in from its evening outing. You laugh as you hear the nonstop chatter of a child who undoubtedly caught his or her biggest, if not first fish. As you rise from your resting place you suddenly get a sense of peace realizing that you haven't enjoyed yourself this much in so many years.

That's what summer is like at this Lake Home cleverly hidden off Highway 34. Toad Lake offers over 1700 acres of fishing, swimming, and boating fun! Whether you’re enjoying the wide open space on the lake, golfing at an area course, hiking the trails at Smoky Hills, shopping or dining at the numerous restaurants and shops; you’ll see why people keep coming back to Toad Lake. This air conditioned, lake home which sleeps 6 people comfortably, has 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and has been completely remodeled. The inside features a comfortable living room with Direct TV, a kitchen with essential appliances, a breakfast bar, dining room and wood burning fireplace. Fully furnished with all linens, pillows, towels, dishes, etc., each room has a ceiling fan as well.

The outside offers a patio with lawn furniture, 2 grills – gas and charcoal, plus a dock system ready for your boat or pontoon.

The lake home is available on a weekly, monthly, or seasonal basis. Owner may entertain a year lease.

Family Fun

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time on Toad Lake. We have a young family and found a great variety of things we all enjoyed. My oldest son and I had a great time bass fishing early in the morning and even caught a few 5lb fish! The younger kids had no troubles catching the sunnies! We especially enjoyed our trip to the Mississippi Headwaters at Itasca State Park and the amusement park on the way. We swam nearly every day at the sandbar and built sandcastles on the beach in front of the cabin. We used the fire pit to roast smores at night. All the while, the fully equipped cabin served as our relaxing headquarters. What a great experience for our whole family. Thanks to Wayne and his family for making their cabin a place that felt like our home away from home.

Private getaway up north

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from our weeks stay at this wonderful cabin! The owners, Wayne and Karen were extremely friendly and helpful and welcomed us the day we arrived. The cabin was stocked and full of all the modern amenities and then some! We were happy it came with an a/c unit to use during the week since it was quite warm a few of the days. The cabin is cozy and is perfectly situated a few yards from the lake. It truly felt like our own private lake home the entire week. The lake is super quiet and the fishing was outstanding! We caught lots of perch and sunnies as well as many northerns. The evenings were peaceful and we loved watching the sunsets as well as listening to the loons. We also loved the location of the cabin to other towns. We spent a day golfing in Detroit Lakes and another shopping and eating in Park Rapids. Perfect vacation! We are looking forward to coming back to this beautiful lakeshore property!

Great location, relaxing environment with good fishing, excellent for families!

  • 5 of 5

The location was great for our family to enjoy the Minnesota outdoors. Lots to do at this location on the bay with sand beach for swimming, paddle boarding, boating, fishing and going on adventure hikes! The lake is excellent in that it is not overcrowded for weekend boating and offers great early morning fishing trips! The cabin is updated, clean and very comfortable to return to after a full day enjoying the outdoors. Owners were great to work with in providing information and being available when we had questions. Definitely a retreat we intend to return to with our family to vacation with in the future!

quiet, comfy, hospitality with awesome fishing!

  • 5 of 5

My family of five had a great time staying at this property. The house was very comfortable. It had everything we needed. Wayne was very hospitable and available when we needed him but scarce otherwise. We rented a pontoon boat as well and had a blast fishing: walleye, northern pike, sunnies, bass, crappie... If you love to fishing you should try this lake. And if you like a small sandy beach, plush grass, beautiful sunsets out the living room window, and a low traffic area, this is the place for you!

Family from the Cities

  • 4 of 5

We just returned from spending time at this lake home. First let me say that Wayne, the owner, was very friendly and thorough. He met us there when we arrived and walked us through the necessary steps about how things work. He was very kind. The cabin is small, but perfect for our family of three. It was pretty clean when we arrived. The space was well organized and had a beautiful view of the lake. The kitchen was well stocked..I didn't even need to use some of the supplies I had brought such a dish soap and paper towel. The living area had plenty of furniture and there is one main wall air conditioner in this room. There were ceiling fans in all the rooms, so that was a plus. If it is really hot, I feel the small air conditioner would not be enough to cool down the whole cabin. My main concern with this cabin was the beds and the bedding. My thoughts are that if I am going to go on a vacation for one week...I need sheets and bedding that are not old and pilly. Also the beds need to be comfortable and inviting. The beds in this cabin were neither of these things. They have a set of bunk beds in each bedroom. These worked out okay for our child, but not so much for us. The beds were thin and squeaky and the linens looked like they were picked up at a garage sale. Now, I am not a sheet snob, but these were horrible. I had to dig around in the pile of sheets to find something that I could use. Thank goodness I brought my own blankets and pillows. Now all that being said, if the bed situation would change I would GLADLY and HAPPILY return to this cabin!

A great stay!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this property. It is very clean and comfortable just as the pictures indicate. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you might need for preparing and serving meals. Wayne was very accommodating, a great guy to deal with. Some nearby attractions we enjoyed were biking on the lake road, pontooning and fishing, going to Itasca State Park, biking to Dorset from Park Rapids, and mini golf at Evergreen Gifts and Fun Park. We would highly recommend staying here!
