Ano Patisia is easy to reach from the airport or port. It used to be one of the first suburbs of Athens while now it is part of the city center. Until the beginning of the 20th century it was countryside. Later it became an upper class intellectual district with many beautiful houses and intense social activity mostly around the ancient road of Patision str. During the years this urban area has changed a lot but it still remains exceptional for its residents. Although it is so close to the noisy city centre, it isn’t crowded. There are parks, squares and wide sidewalks. It is a lively and safe neighborhood which even nowadays, has many hidden examples of charming neoclassical houses.
The place is close to almost everything that the neighborhood has to offer. Bakeries, grocery shops, super markets, open air food market, banks, post office, pharmacies, cafés, taverns, restaurants, pubs, bars and two of the most famous pastry shops in Athens can be found in walking distance! In other words you will find whatever a traveler or local need on a daily basis.
The apartment is a three minute walk from the train station. Taking the train you can reach the historic centre of Athens (about 15 minutes) and all the downtown attractions (museums, archeological sites, shops, restaurants etc). This line is also connected with the metro and the railway as well offering an easy access to the airport. For those who prefer other options of public transportation, a bus and a trolley bus stop are also available just across the street.
From Ano Patisia district you can easily head north (e.g. Kifisia) or south to Piraeus port where are all ferries to the islands. Also the apartment is close to the national highway which allows you to avoid the traffic jam of city center and enjoy a day out to any of the wonderful destinations around Attica or Greek mainland. If you have a rental car, free parking is available across the street.
