Great waterfront property for a family
Not big, not to small, it was just perfect! Ideal location on the cove and close proximity to store, restaurants and coffee house. We will be back!
Two families shared the house for 3 nights and loved it! Slept all of us comfortably, kitchen was huge and perfect for cooking for a crowd, had everything we needed. Nice big gas bbq as well. Cove house is located on was great for kids paddle boarding, floating around in inner tubes, fishing and easy in and out with boat as well. Deck is huge was perfect for dining alfresco and house is well shaded. Only downside was lack of AC and first couple days were 95+. Suggest bringing fans with you if weather looks to be that warm. House actually has 2.5 baths, the half is not mentioned on the ad. We hope to rent again next summer - highly recommend it, location can't be beat!
Great Family Place and Great Location
We stayed here over Memorial Day! I was not expecting this place to be as nice as it is, the pictures don't do it justice! It was so easy to load/unload the car. Plenty of parking for whatever you bring with you. It is a short walking distance from a great local coffee house, and the local pizza place is close too! Wonderful place to walk the dogs in back of the property up the short fire road with a fantastic view at the end. After reading the last review I felt compelled to talk about the bats well... What Bats? There aren't any! No sign of any problems anywhere on the property. I will stay here again and of course bring my dogs too!
Be aware of Bat issue-bring some masks for sweeping up the deck
So, first of all there is no access to the lake within walking distance, the beach area across the street is reserved for Home Owners, renters are not allowed. So, you have to drive to get to a beach. In the future we would rent where there was local access to the lake. The house is very dog friendly, the carpeting is old, but everything was is working order. Lots of linens and towels are available.
Now the negative, the bats roosting in the siding of the house and the attic vent area are truly a health hazard that is not recognized by the home owner. From the home owner “yes, they (the homeowners) are aware of the bats and say that they do not want to get rid of them because they keep the mosquito’s away and they enjoy sitting on the deck and love the fact that they do not have to wear bug repellent”. While I agree with the homeowners that bats are beneficial, having them roost in the house and leave their droppings on the side of the side and the deck is my concern. Here is the issue, every morning the deck is covered with bat feces and per the CDC “Histoplasmosis is another disease associated with bats. Its symptoms vary greatly, but the disease primarily affects the lungs. Occasionally, other organs are affected. When this happens it can be fatal if untreated. In addition, Histoplasmosis is caused by a fungus that grows in soil and material contaminated with droppings from animals, including bats. Droppings, also known as bat guano, can contaminate the soil and cause infectious spores to be released when the soil is disturbed.” So, just be aware, that you have to sweep the deck every day, and who knows how much of the feces has been tracked into the house and ground into the carpeting. I just suggest that when you rent, you know all the information which we did not have at the time.
Located in the Peninsula outside of the Country Club near Peninsula Market and Red Onion Grill.
