About the property

Family cabin, dog friendly, close to rec center, lake and skiing + ski locker

Ahh! Kick-back, relax and breathe the clean mountain air. Enjoy the soothing aroma of the tall pines and cedars that will surround you in our comfortable cabin, perfectly located in beautiful Blue Lake Springs.

One feature we enjoy after a fun-filled family day, is the upstairs family room for the kids. They can have their time while we enjoy the large living room, warmed by the wood-burning stove.

You and your family will enjoy our cozy mountain cabin that has a location that you will LOVE. It's only steps to Snowflake Lake, the Rec Center and Sequoia Wood County Club.

Our kids walk to the lake, the rec center and the pool, floaties under arm. Yours can too. You'll have use of all of the Blue Lake Springs facilities; two lakes, a pool, tennis courts, ping pong, shuffleboard, volleyball, manicured lawns, lakeside beaches and much more. There is a very reasonable guest fee charged by Blue Lake Springs for the use of the facilities.

There's lots of deck area, with lots of sun and nice forest views and plenty of privacy.

The cabin will sleep 6-7 comfortably. There are 3 bedrooms, two upstairs and one downstairs and two full baths. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, one upstairs has a double and the other has 3 twin beds. There is a queen hide-a-bed in the family room sofa.

About Jim

We've been living part-time in Arnold for almost twenty years. The location of this cabin is by far our favorite. Our four kids love it here. The kids are getting older and we're not using it as much as we used to. We still enjoy it occasionally, but would like to share it with others.

Jim purchased this cabin in 2005

Wonderful, cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay. Jim has a very nice cabin in the woods with all the amenities of home. The wall of family photos is a welcoming touch. We can't wait to come back!

Spacious & clean cabin, Comfy beds, Great location (4 mins to Big Trees!)

  • 4 of 5

Let me start by reiterating what other reviewers have said: the owner, Jim, is a delight to work with. He's responsive, helpful, thorough, and nice. The exact kind of person one hopes to work with when renting a property.

The cabin (house,'s much larger than the pictures would lead you to believe) is great. It's in a very quiet neighborhood, is 5 mins from Arnold and 4 mins from Big Trees State Park. We found the downstairs queen bed to be incredibly comfortable (memory foam mattress or topper, I believe) and our boys were very happy in 2 of the 3 twin beds upstairs.

If you're snowed in, there are many board games (for ages 5 to adult), books, and one t.v. If the weather is nice, they have horseshoes and a pit. Oh, and the deck is large and lovely.

One tip: bring hand towels and kitchen towels as well as they're not provided.

Our family of 4 really enjoyed being here. It met all our needs and the location can't be beat. We definitely want to return.

Family getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great long weekend in this cabin. We were able to walk to the pool and the beach. The two grandsons 10 and 6 enjoyed playing outside. So nice to see when they usually have internet devices in their hands. We would definitely love to come back and stay in this house again. Loved that it was doggie friendly too, my little dog loved watching the squirrels. Owners were very nice also I sent a couple of emails to them regarding the house and they always got back to me right away.

Great Time

  • 4 of 5

Loved the cabin. Great location! Cabin was very comfortable. 3 bedrooms which accommodated all of us. Deck was amazing. Coffee each morning looking out to the woods. How relaxing is that. Walking distance to the Snowflake lake and Blue Springs Country Club. Could not ask for more.

Bear Valley

Five minutes from the cabin is BIG TREES STATE PARK, which features miles of hiking trails, some of the largest trees in the world, fishing and bird watching.

Also five minutes from us is the town of Arnold and White Pines lake, which is WELL STOCKED with trout. It's a beautiful lake for swimming, fishing, small boat sailing, kayaking and just plain hanging out. Just a few feet from White Pines lake is one of the trailheads for the Arnold RIM TRAIL which is a first class mountain bike and walking trail (dog friendly). There are many miles of mountain bike and 4-wheel drive trails within minutes.NEW!: There's a disc golf course next to White Pines Lake.

If you prefer to buy your fish, Big Trees Market in Arnold has the best fish and meat department in Calaveras County. They also have a great selection of food and wines.

Check out Alpine Lake, Utica Lake, Union Lake, New Melones Dam, Spicer Lake and don't forget the majestic Stanislaus River which is 15 minutes from our place.

There is WINE TASTING and shopping in the beautiful town of Murphys, explore caves and go zip lining at Moaning Caverns, spend some time in the historic town of Columbia with stage coach rides (complete with stage coach robbers), a black smith and an old-fashioned candy store,

Beautiful Sequoia Woods golf course is 300 yards (less than a Bubba Watson drive) from our front door.

In the winter, SKI and SNOWBOARD AT BEAR VALLEY, a 30 minute drive. Bear Valley is the most family-friendly ski resort in California. The terrain varies from beginner to double-black diamond. There's SNOWMOBILING there too.

Bear Valley offers cross country skiing, sledding, ice skating, and snow shoeing. Bear Valley Lodge offers dining, games & cocoa by the giant stone fireplace; the perfect spot to warm up after a day in the snow.

For summer fun, SWIM, FISH and PLAY (Bring your floaties) in Snowflake lake located only 200 yards from the cabin. The lake, complete with a lifeguard, features a beautiful sandy beach, volleyball, dock and mid-lake floats for your pleasure. We've watched our kids catch many tadpoles, frogs and fish which has been very entertaining for all.

The POOL (with lap lanes and adult swim times) and RECREATION CENTER with tennis, shuffleboard, ping pong are only a few steps more. WATCH OUTDOOR MOVIES on some of the warm summer nights. You might enjoy the evening BINGO games or perhaps a game of bocce.
