NEW FOR 2017 - BEACH PARKING PASS INCLUDED!
Relax, unwind and enjoy fantastic ocean views, a short walk to the beach, and peace and serenity at this rustic cottage with all the amenities!
If these Vermont pine walls could talk, they’d tell endless stories of the thousands of guests who have found peace and quiet above the gentle waves of Loblolly Cove since the 1950s. That’s when #13 (then known as Cottage #4) and the other quaint lodgings around you were built by entrepreneurial Vermont couple Wetzel and Gladys Gale and family to expand the capacity of the Rocky Shores Inn. While the cottages are now seasonal condos and the Main House is a private dwelling, the spirit of Rocky Shores lives on with each new visitor--and through the current owner of #13, Grandpa and Grammy Gale’s granddaughter!
The Cottage by the Sea includes the best of all worlds: an unsophisticated escape from the hustle and bustle of the workaday world, without sacrificing modern features and connectivity. Sip a cold beverage as you gaze out at the twin lighthouses of Thacher Island from the patio, then sling one of the provided beach chairs over your shoulder for a jaunt to the pebbled expanse and bobbing buoys of Loblolly Cove. Later, a short drive (or intermediate stroll) will bring you to the shops and artisans of Rockport's famed Bearskin Neck, home of both a vibrant art colony and an aptly-named little red fish shack--bring your camera and add your own interpretation of "Motif #1" to your vacation album!
Later, prepare a fresh dish of local fish, lobster or shellfish in the cottage kitchen --equipped with fridge, freezer, cooktop, oven, microwave, toaster and both Keurig and drip coffee makers--or fire up the grill out back and dine al fresco. If the weather doesn't cooperate, you can always enjoy a movie from our "Films of Cape Ann" DVD collection or catch the latest Red Sox game from the comfort of the couch under the skylights of the high-ceilinged living room. And, should the real world intrude, high-speed internet and wi-fi mean you can get to work without getting too far from play.
Two cozy bedrooms--one featuring a queen bed, and the other containing two twin beds--are paneled in original unfinished Vermont pine, and the cleverly-designed closets blend right into the walls. Linens and towels are included in your stay, and the closets contain both snuggly comforters for those ocean-cooled nights, and oscillating tower fans (including remote controls and sleep timers) when the days get a little toasty. The bathroom includes a tub with a shower attachment for rinsing away the salt water apres-beach.
If your preference is for quiet over chaos, lone gulls instead of swarming sidewalks, and ocean breezes that let you remember how it feels to just breathe, the Cottage by the Sea at Rocky Shores may be just the destination you're looking for. Make Rocky Shores a part of your vacation story!
