Overview

About the property

Seclusion, peaceful, grandeur

This is a beautiful cottage with secluded location on very large lot and expansive lake front. It sits on the smallest of three lakes that interconnect by channels. There is a dock, rowboat, floating dock for swimming. Firepit allows campfires. There are three bedrooms on the first floor, one of which doubles as a sunroom. One and a half bath's on first floor. The house faces the lake with large picture windows on an acre lot, bordered on one side by woods. The location provides beautiful sunset views. No high speed boating is allowed on Carpenter Lake, therefore it is very peaceful. However, a 5 minute motor through an adjacent channel gets one to Hemlock Lake where waterskiing, sailing, and jet skiing is abundant

Excellant place to get away

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I truly enjoyed our getaway at the CarrBarns. The cabin was clean and very roomy, we were able to find everything we needed. The waterfront yard was very large and private. We went fishing everyday, biking, walking, bird watching, paddle boat, row boat. The clear starry nights were perfect for a campfire and just relaxing. Id recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a quiet private getaway. Thanks Kevin.......it is all you said it was.

Beautiful big yard... a few updates would be nice

  • 2 of 5

The property is so nice, grandsons caught 15-16” largemouth bass, perch and huge blue gills right off the dock & raft. The swings, fire pit and shade trees complete the large relaxing yard. The ad does need some updating though.

There are 2 real bedrooms; 1 one has twin beds and a futon. They’ve been built up w/ foam rubber pads underneath the mattresses. The second has a double bed w/ a super soft spring type mattress. The third is actually a sunroom/tv room w/ queen sofa sleeper in bad condition. There’s a queen sofa sleeper & loveseat sleeper in the living room. We didn’t even deal with them.

“Linens provided” does not mean sheets, it does however mean towels. so now you know what sizes to bring . imagine our surprise to get there and find out it meant towels :(

The lily pads are closing the beach area off big time. It’s not so enjoyable to try and swim out to the raft for diving off the deep side. The kids rowed the boat to it .

Another reviewer said “fully stocked kitchen”. Not so much...

We found ourselves needing sharp knives; it’s hard to cut that juicy steak off the grill, with a butter or dull carving knife.

A few mixing bowls and baking sheets would have been helpful, and a frying pan or two.(there was a elec. skillet and griddle that had seen better days) I went and bought a frying pan to fry up all that fish. And it was so good.

All and all, beds and lily pads aside, it was not a bad house.

Bring drinking water its typical well water with a smell.

Nice cabin with beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cottage for a family getaway that included mainly adults but also a few children, one as young as five. The lake is peaceful and the large backyard is private. The large backyard provides opportunities for spread out family games and included a seating area around a campfire as well. Kevin, the owner, was very attentive to our needs and was pleasant to rent from. The kitchen came with all needed appliances (coffee maker, microwave, oven, stove, fridge) and came with a grill out on the side deck. We would be happy to rent this cottage again.

This cabin has all you need

  • 5 of 5

I rented this cabin as I had family coming to the hillsdale area for a family reunion. We really enjoyed the cabin as it has all you need for an enjoyable stay. Fully stocked kitchen that meets all your cooking needs. Very nice deck off the kitchen. The back yard is very spacious with a beautiful view of the lake and nice fire pit and swings. Easy to get to and close to towns if you choose to leave. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great getaway.
