A little heaven, just loved it and we will be back!
Beautiful property but musty and damp
The cabin is secluded and adorably decorated, and the proximity to Minnehaha Falls, Angel Falls and Lake Rabun is great. However, it has some moisture issues. There is a very musty odor, and all fabrics within the cabin are constantly damp, including the sheets and my clean clothes upon putting them on in the morning. We tried turning on the air conditioning the first night, but it did not help. As the weather was perfect, we tried simply opening the windows the 2nd night to allow for extra ventilation, and unfortunately that did not help either. It is a beautiful property, and I know moisture issues can be common in vacation homes and cabins in the woods. I think this property could benefit from some DampRid and/or a dehumidifier.
Thank you for your compliments about the cabin. We are glad that you found it so conveniently located to all the beautiful waterfalls, hiking trails, and Lake Rabun, as well as nicely decorated. We are so sorry that you had an issue with moisture. Normally, our regular cleaning person would have refreshed our Damp Rid containers, refills for which I’m sure you noticed in the closet, aired out the cabin, and left the ceiling fans on so that you would not have noticed any dampness. (We have been following this routine since 2012 when we began renting the cabin, and no guests have ever had any issues with dampness, even this year with our record rainfall). Unfortunately, prior to your arrival, we had a new, substitute cleaning person who came for the first time and did not follow all of our instructions regarding the above routine. I had planned to check the cabin after the cleaning and before your arrival. I had a fall two days prior to your arrival and fractured my knee, making it impossible for me to check the cabin personally, which would have assured it was up to our usual standards. Again, our sincere apologies, with hope that you can understand these unusual circumstances.
Absolutely fell in love with the cabin!
It was everything we hoped it would be and more. We found new things every day we stayed and we always had things to do. The accomadations are enough to guarantee we will be back again! Thank you for the wonderful experience in your quiet little mountain town. :)
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are very happy that you "fell in love" with the cabin and it surpassed your expectations! So glad to hear you enjoyed the area and found lots to do! We would love for you to come back again and continue exploring! There are so many amazing and fun things to see and do in Rabun County! Thank you again!
the property was pristine, containing everything you coud possibly need.
The cabin offered all amenities, what you did with them depended on your creativity. I was puzzled that the woods were so quiet...no animals, birds, but that is not something the cabin had anything to do with. There was no view of the lake, however, as promoted.
A perfect cozy cabin with a delightful tin roof that sounds wonderful when it rains
My husband and I stayed for a long weekend visiting our son and family. Even though it rained most of the time we had a great adventure . We read, rested and enjoyed the swing on the porch. The cabin is so cute, cozy and very well stocked. In fact we would try to guess something that was not stocked in the cabin...never found it. Patty was so helpful and answered my e-mails immediately. We loved the rustic cabin and definitely will be back.
A great getaway - we had a blast!
The cabin is everything the listing states. It is a true cabin, not a house in the woods. It is rustic and somewhat remote. It’s located down a dirt road off another dirt road. It is quiet. The porch is relaxing with morning coffee. The wood stove is good quality and comes with some dried wood on the back porch. The bed is comfortable. My wife liked the sheets. Now, what they don’t tell you is that the kitchen has everything needed to cook just about anything. There is a large Brita in the fridge. The layout is a little quirky but it is all there. There are several frying pans, including a huge one for cooking Moby Dick! Cooking utensils are in a piece of pottery attached to the wall. There is ample reading material. When we got home I purchased two of the books we had seen there. There are also games, toys, DVDs, and stars on the ceiling. There are plenty of things to do and see within a 30 minute drive. And not to be overlooked is how good it was dealing with the owners. They were very accommodating and informative on the phone even though they were on vacation themselves.
1.3 miles to Lake Rabun swim beach, fish dock, and boat launch. Nearby are waterfalls, hiking trails, Tallulah Gorge State Park, Chattooga, Tallulah, and Coleman Rivers for fishing and white-water rafting, horseback riding, Foxfire museum, Dillard House Restaurant, Tiger Drive-In movies, shopping, 3 local wineries, Saturday night bluegrass music in Tallulah Falls, shopping and restaurants in Clayton, Dillard, and Helen . . . or just relaxing on the porch!
