This was our first time using a VRBO I was nervous about it but Kathy was awesome to work with and this place was out of this world. Everyone should stay here at least once. Can't wait to go back.
Everything was perfect. Absolutely beautiful!
We had an awesome time over the weekend. The location was beautiful. It accommodated all of our needs. The owners are great to work with. We will definitely go back again!
Four things come together to make this an exceptional vacation stay - the location, the home itself, the view, and the owners.
The location in Custer is perfect. Pull down the long driveway and you're able to grab whatever you need in town. (We recommend Baker's Bakery in town. Phenomenal.) Leave town and you're a short drive to Custer State Park, Needles Hwy, Mt Rushmore and countless other gorgeous hikes, nature views, and opportunities to explore.
The property itself is 5 acres on top of a hill. As soon as we pulled up and got out of the car, our kids began to celebrate. They loved exploring and climbing the rock formations on the hillside. We could have spent the whole vacation right there and no one would have complained. Hide and go seek was epic. Within minutes of arrival three deer joined us in the yard and the kids took pictures from feet away. One morning they watched two bucks spar for ten minutes just below them in the valley. They also stood feet away from a flock of fourteen wild turkeys. Our totes lit teenager said it was his new favorite place. Hundred percent.
The views were a joy. On the first morning the hillside was covered in 3" of gorgeous snow that melted off by early afternoon. On the second morning we awoke to hot air balloons floating straight out from the deck after lifting off from a field in Custer. The third morning covered the hills in mist and the fourth bathed them in sunlight. It was, to use a goofy old phrase, a veritable cornucopia of delights. Do I sound like a tourist yet? Well, I'm a happy tourist anyway.
The home itself is spacious and comfortable. We were there with two families totaling eight kids, four parents, and one wonderful grandmother. There were enough seats, beds, bedrooms, and places to play for all of us. The kitchen is terrific and very well supplied with seasonings, sugar, oil, all the necessities, etc, quality pans, dishwasher, reverse osmosis water purifier and on and on. Really nice. Supplied with linens, blankets, and towels as well as games and DVDs. Laundry room was a huge plus. Three bathrooms, two of which are huge, were a tremendous convenience. Outdoor dining overlooking the hillside was a pleasure.
Unfortunately, we didn't meet Steve but we did meet Kathy and she is a gem. She was readily available for questions, trouble-shooting the remote, and even vacation advice. She is terrific.
What a wonderful experience. We had 6 adults and 5 kids 10 down to 2. They played on the rock s, made a fort , fed the deer which were just outside our window. I think they liked playing hide and seek among the rocks. The amenities were great. A very large basement with sleeping for 11. The kids hung out there, with games provided. The view is spectular and we were away from any traffic. You can’t miss with this home!
Do not consider this home unless you are prepared to have the most spectacular time of your life.
The views are breathtaking.. The home is spacious, clean, and comfortable. The surroundings are peaceful and relaxing. Feeding the deer every morning and evening (with food supplied by the owners)
along with all the other wild life makes this a mountain paradise. Top this off with the most pleasant, friendly and hospitable owners and you have a vacation that is priceless!
This Black Hills cabin was amazing!
This cabin was clean and comfortable with the added surprise of many wildlife in the area, some just twenty feet from the front door. A wonderful experience for all of us to feed the deer. The description of this property was accurate. We, our children and grandchildren throughly enjoyed this relaxing vacation and the ability to see Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, the Badlands and Rush Mountain among other’s at our leisure. Owners were very accommodating to our needs. We would highly recommend using this property to family and friends. Thanks!
