Spacious studio in pleasant, convenient neighborhood
The comfortable studio apartment on the lower level of the house opened on a big stone patio that overlooked lawns and trees in a peaceful neighborhood of big houses and connecting greenery, fulfilling my top priority of outdoor space.
The studio itself had lots of space divided into well-equipped and nicely furnished living room, galley kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.
The host, who lived upstairs, was attentive. usually by text or email. When I mentioned the lack of a reading light, one appeared quite quickly.
The location is in a small town, near several restaurants, a supermarket, post office and a much-touted ice creamery. In addition it is within easy driving distance -- 10-15 miles -- of Longwood Gardens, Brandywine River Museum of Art (Wyeth family), Winterthur and other estates. Both Wilmington and Philadelphia (including the airport) are about 25-30 miles away.
It was ideal for what we needed.
Nice area of the town. Very quiet all the time.
The property was perfect for us.
The apartment was very clean and had all amenities we needed. We enjoyed visiting with property owner as well. He was very accommodating.
Perfect location to see the sites
This apartment is 20 minutes from Longwood, Winterthur, Nemours, Hagley, and the DE art museum. The bed is comfortable which is important. There is a full kitchen so we cooked most of our meals there. The private patio is a great place for an evening glass of wine. This is in a lovely neighborhood of nice homes. Acme grocery store is only a few minutes away. The owner is very nice and accommodating.
It was my pleasure to have these guests stay at my place. They left the place neat and tidy and observed all the home rules. They communicated well and were happy to do their laundry at the suite. I am happy the weather was good so that they could enjoy the evenings sitting out on the patio. They were very accommodative and friendly.
A Home Unto Its Own
I stayed here for a month while settling into a new job in Newark, DE. The suburban neighborhood and surrounding amenities were a fantastic, safe and convenient place to go running, go shopping and grab a bite to eat. The best part of my stay was how accessible the lower level suite was, with a separate entrance from the back yard, with full access to the patio under the deck. The kitchen was well equipped and stocked with basic essentials and the washer and dryer were so convenient. Great internet speed too.
There was a small problem with the shower draining one morning, but the owner/host had it resolved by that afternoon, even though he was out of town at the time. It's a home. Things will break or malfunction. But when unexpected challenges happen, it's a true test of service and hospitality. I was more than pleased with my host's gracious response.
If you need to stay near Hockessin, Delaware, overnight or for an extended stay, I highly recommend this rental property.
I am happy that you had a comfortable and enjoyable stay at my place. Thanks for being a super guest. It was a pleasure to host you and am grateful for your appreciative review. Best wishes for settling in this area.
lovely one bedroom in quiet upscale neighborhood
Lovely one bedroom in quiet neighborhood. We mostly enjoyed the outside patio with the lovely assortment of flowers. We took advantage of the gardens and museums in the Hockessin area. The neighborhood was quiet and walkable with easy access to shopping.
The suite is in a quiet and safe neighborhood in an upscale development.
