Wonderful Family Vacay!!
What a great cabin! There is so much room for multiple people. The kitchen is absolutely beautiful with granite counters and great cabinetry! We had an absolute blast. Plenty of dishes and even had a crockpot and Keurig coffee pot. It is definitely off the beaten path but perfect to get away from everything. My niece and nephew loved the train that goes through the property. As soon as we heard the whistle blowing, we would all run out to the porch and wave at the train as it was passing. The trek down to the river is a little steep and definitely needs to have more rocks but overall not too bad. You WILL get your workout in coming back up to the house from the river so you wont feel like you need to "work-out" or exercise while on vacation...its already incooperated! :)
The house is all hardwood which was super easy to clean up. The beds were comfortable. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all good sized and had plenty of towels for everyone. Be sure to bring extra beach towels if you plan on being at the river every day and you might want to bring some laundry detergent... we went through A LOT of towels. The fire pit and picnic pavillion were so convenient!! Also, the hot tub to get in at night was just an added bonus.
The only negatives were, one cabinet in the kitchen was broken so if you needed to get under it you had to kind of push it back in place. Second, the slippery trek down to the river, and third, once you get down to the river there are no steps to get in the water which was very scary with kiddos. Other than that.... ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!! We will definitely stay again here!!!!
There are so many places to visit in the area! Check out any of these great places: Mercier's Orchards, Rolling Thunder (river tubing), Burra Burra Mines (Ducktown, TN), Downtown McCaysville--Great restaurants including The Track Shack, Downtown Blue Ridge, The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, The Swan Drive In, and the Lilly Pad Village. Don't forget about the great hiking and fishing the area has!
