Crooked Lake Log Cabin - Lakefront (Chelsea - Ann Arbor Area)

Bedrooms 2
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

This original lakefront log cabin was built in the late1930s as a fishing camp. It has a private dock and a spectacular view of Crooked Lake. This lake is a beautiful 110 acre all sports lake adjacent to the Waterloo Recreation Area. The recreation area encompasses 20,000 acres, has 47 miles of hiking trails, fishing lakes, nature and equestrian trails.

The cabin is approximately 950 sq. ft., with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. It still maintains the rustic ambiance but has been updated with modern conveniences. The front bedroom has a Queen bed and there are 2 built in log twin beds. Ideal as a private retreat for a couple or 4 people, but is capable of sleeping 6. The log sofa in the living room can be converted to a full size futon bed.

The lake has a public boat launch and you may bring your own boat. We provide a paddle boat, canoe and a couple of kayaks for your use.

Wonderful, secluded, quaint, relaxing

  • 5 of 5

If you want a quiet beautiful getaway to relax and look out across a beautiful small lake without people around this is it. The cabin is so unique, cozy and spotless. Romantic for a couple to curl up in front of a wood fire or a great place to take your children to reconnect as a family and enjoy board games, canoeing, kayaking or miles of walking trails in a nearby recreation Area. Can't say enough good about the charmimg owners who left marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate bars to make smores in the fire pit. We celebrated the beginning of retirement here. Fresh flowers from their garden and a bottle of wine awaited us. Couldn't be a better place.

Beautiful view of Crooked Lake.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin has everything you need to stay here. The view of the lake is beautiful and the area is very peaceful. The cabin was very clean and bug free. The city of Chelsea is ten minutes away and has shopping and plenty of restaurants. We will definitely stay here again.

A relaxing and convenient spot for a few days away

  • 5 of 5

My mom and I stayed here for two nights with her dog. (It was great to be able to bring the dog!) The lake is beautiful and peaceful. There are neighbors close by, but it was nonetheless quiet while we were there. Doreen was a great host, leaving a bottle of wine and dog treats as a welcome gift and always being responsive and available to assist (she lives a couple of houses down). The cabin was well-equipped with kayaks, a SUP, and a pedal boat. It was also easy to swim from right outside the cabin.

The cabin itself was rustic but comfortable.

We also appreciated the convenience of a quick drive from Metro Detroit and accessibility to shops and restaurants.

Authentic, rustic and delightful!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin on Crooked Lake is the perfect balance of creature comforts and an authentic early 20th century fishing-cottage-on-a-lake experience. Lovingly restored and immaculately maintained, the cabin is a haven for anyone seeking a getaway at the water's

edge, complete with kayaks, canoe, paddle boat - and loads of windows and waterside seating to take in the views day or night. Little touches like a basket of s'more-makings on the kitchen table and lots of firewood for the firepit and fireplace just round out the experience. And close enough to Chelsea and Ann Arbor for doses of 21st century life if needed. Highly HIGHLY recommend the cabin for a lovely low-tech getaway!

The log cabin is located 6 miles from the village of Chelsea and 22 miles from Ann Arbor. It is only 3 miles from the expressway (I-94), yet secluded and away from all the bustle once you arrive at this lakeside sanctuary.
