The house, built in the early 1800's, offers three bedrooms, each with a king, and a shared full bathroom (tub and shower combination) all on the second floor. These rooms have original painted wood floors with simple furnishings and brand new mattresses and bedding. (Please note that the stairs are steep and the house is not suitable for toddlers.)

The kitchen is simply equipped with plates, cookware, silverware, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster. The kitchen has direct access to the back stone patio complete with an outdoor grill and patio furniture.

The house has window unit air-conditioning on both the first and second floors.

Beautiful and quiet location

  • 5 of 5

This was our third time staying here. We love the house and beautiful property. The house is located on a secluded part of the property far from the public roads. The two wood burning stoves provided excellent heat (ample firewood was available).

Family members found the house is easy to reach with a regular car and when it snowed the driveway and private road leading to the house was plowed. If you are staying in winter, an SUV might be easier though.

Fabulous Winter experience!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at this lovely, quaint place during the Christmas Holiday and had a very special time---with the wood burning stoves going it proved to be a cozy, unforgettable experience that my family will treasure. (A word of note, the main source of heat is the wood-burning stoves, so those staying during the winter months might want to be comfortable with that. We did not have a problem lighting them and keeping them going, and the owner did offer to have the maintenance guy come and light them for us.)

Historic beauty with LOADS of privacy!

  • 4 of 5

While visiting with family in Ridgefield, CT this lovely farmhouse was our home base! It was close to everything - I-84 & Blue Colony Diner just down the hill, to/from the rest of Fairfield County, etc.. The beds were sheer heaven, the property gorgeous, very charming interior and overall a comfortable home. Loved having tea on the large outside slate patio. Thank you for sharing!

Spring at the vinyard

  • 4 of 5

The house was very nice. The grounds were gorgeous. The only problem we encountered was the stairway to the bedrooms is very steep and without a railing. This made it impossible for Grandmother to make it to the bedrooms. We made a spot for her on the first floor but she did not get a real bed (which were very good). All in all it worked well for us.

Better than advertised! Spotless, homey and comfortable with many modern conveniences, including state-of-the-art washer and dryer, dishwasher, Direct TV, and flawless electronic heating. The property will leave you speechless. We felt 100 miles from civilization even though we were only 10 minutes from great markets, shops and restaurants. The best VRBO experience we've ever had. Thanks for sharing this incredible property with us.

We also stayed here in January. The warmer weather for this stay allowed us to enjoy the extensive grounds.
