Broughton in Furness review
We enjoyed our stay here and the local village itself with a selection of pubs and restaurants.
Other people looking to stay here should be prepared for some careful maneuvering between 2 properties to get to the accommodation if you have a car bigger than a Ford Fiesta!
Accommodation itself was OK but with a change of an uncomfortable mattress, some furniture updates and a lick of paint it could be really nice!
Broughton In Furness
Great wee place , perfect base for visiting the lakes, pubs are great in the village Manor Arms, and the Black Cock especially, local shops are brilliant Baker , Grocer , Butcher ,Post Office , Petrol Station all 2 mins from the property , Villagers are all welcoming Annette the propert owner is an ace person too .
It was lovely to welcome you both to Lowfield and to hear how much you enjoyed your week's stay. Yes, the local pubs and shops are brilliant and it handy to have them all so close - as well other facilities like the Post Office, petrol station and Tourist Information Centre. As regular visitors to Broughton-in-Furness, l look forward to seeing you again.
Enjoyable get away
Lovely hosts very friendly and made our stay very pleasant would highly recommend
Thank you for your review of Lowfield and I am pleased you had a pleasant stay!
I loved it!
Everything was perfect: the place, the people, and the surroundings.
The cottage is cosy and elegantly decorated. It has many facilities and the hosts are really nice and helpful.
I am so glad you loved your visit to Lowfield. We enjoyed hosting you while you took part in the Buddhist Festival at the Manjushri Centre, Conishead Priory in Ulverston. I look forward to welcoming you back in the future!
An absolute Gem
We were curious at self contained bed and breakfast. The cottage was neat, clean and compact. Everything in it to feel like home while feeling like you were miles from home. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners Annette and Andrew. We were offered fresh bread or croissants each day with cereals etc available in the cottage. This meant we could eat when we wanted with no interruptions. It is on the doorstep of the quieter part of the Lake District but lots of places to visit. Broughton-in Furness, only 5 minutes walk offered all the essentials you may need. With local shops, cafe and three very different pubs and a restaurant. All in all a delightful place to stay for peace and tranquility. A lovely walking area too. You will not be disappointed.

We had a lovely weekend away. Spent our days outside enjoying the beautiful sunny weather. The Lake District has such breathtaking views. Very comfortable and cosy cottage - thanks! Hope to be back soon.
Broughton-in-Furness makes an excellent base to explore the less frequented and more tranquil parts of the Lake District. This picturesque and historic village has a good selection of quality shops and award-winning pubs - all within a few minutes walk of Lowfield.
Low level walks abound, such as around Tarn Hows while in Broughton itself a disused railway track leads to woodland and ponds. Cycling is also popular with an extensive set of mountain bike trails in nearby Grizedale Forest.
Coniston Water and Coniston Old Man are 15-20 minutes drive away with museums and stately homes to visit, a steam gondola and boats to enjoy the lakeside with and stunning mountain scenery to admire. The central lakes (Windemere, Ambleside) can be reached along scenic roads within 45 minutes.
The coast is also close by with miles of beaches and dunes to explore together with owl and wildlife sanctuaries.
