About Anthony Guarino

I purchased this house as a retreat from my St. Louis professional life because of beauty of the house in a wonderful setting. The house is central to all activities that one might want to pursue in Innsbrook.

I started renting the house in 2012 with the belief that others should have an opportunity to experience and enjoy this property as well.

Anthony Guarino purchased this chateau / country house in 2005

Why Anthony Guarino chose Missouri

The house connects with the environment around it. It has all of the amenities you will need to enjoy your vacation time.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

It sits on the second largest lake teeming with fish and a short walk to the golf course.

There are currently no other listings where they report the ability for 20 people to stay under one roof.

You will have access to a golf cart to explore the community at a casual pace.

Perfect for Mulitple Families with Kids

  • 5 of 5

This house is big and open, with everything you need to accommodate multiple families. We rented the home with three other families – with kids ages 7 months to 14 yrs – and it fit us all perfectly. Not only are there five bedrooms, the downstairs has three new pullout couches and a futon. Plus, it had a Wii, train table, air hockey and plenty of toys to keep the kids entertained. It was also great to be right on the water, but the cove was a little too murky for us to feel comfortable to swim in it. Instead, we used it to fish and kayak, then drove down the road to the beaches to swim. Overall it was a great home and a fantastic weekend!

Girls Getaway 2017

  • 5 of 5

This our second time using this property and we will be back for sure! We use it for an annual Mother/Daughter weekend for the last two years and it is perfect!

This year we had 5 moms and 7 daughters and we had PLENTY of room. The girls splashed around at the beach, went on a fun hike and ended each evening with dinner on the NEW deck and the girls capped it off with a movie.

Highly recommend!

Wonderful family gathering place with spectacular views and lots of space.

  • 5 of 5

There are lots of places to be together or to be private in the upper level or the lower level or outside. The kitchen was supplied to dishes and cookware. There were lots of toys and even a wagon to take little ones along for your walks. The property is very secure. Be prepared to supply the names of guests to security who may be staying or just dropping in. All of our family loved the home.

Great Lakehouse Rental for large group!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time with our family - there was plenty of room to spread out and the view of the lake was awesome! We rented a paddleboat to enjoy the lake (highly recommend this especially if you enjoy fishing). Awesome rental - would definitely recommend especially if you have a large group!

Inflexible owner

  • 1 of 5

If you rent this property, purchase the insurance. The day before we were scheduled to check in, a three-day ice storm began to hit Missouri. The governor declared a state of emergency and called out the national guard. Two members of our party had their flights to St. Louis cancelled. With plans to have young children at the property and someone who walks with the assistance of a cane, we opted not to risk anticipated power outages and dangerous roads and sidewalks. This was largely a group of travelers from Northern Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin, used to inclement weather. The threat was real. Everyone in our party agreed that we'd rather lose money than put our family in a dangerous situation. However, we hoped the owner would work with us to come up with a mutually agreeable solution. He didn't. He reinforced our contractual obligations and told us that we were being premature canceling our trip. (In our view, because everyone had a minimum 4 hour drive to arrive at the property, we needed to be premature in order to avoid getting stuck in a storm.) Eventually, after some back and forth, he agreed to refund the cleaning fee. He also offered us half off a future booking, provided we booked within the month. As I mentioned, some of our party needed to fly in. Getting rebooked within a month just wasn't feasible. And that month was February, so it also wasn't desirable. We never asked for a full refund. We just hoped he would meet us half-way, recognizing that this was an act of God situation. We wanted a partial refund or greater flexibility in rebooking the property. However, he wouldn't hear our concerns and kept reinforcing that we had a contract. It was an unfortunate situation all around. This was meant to be a family Christmas celebration. Instead, we didn't get anything for our money, and didn't get much desired family time together.

Owner's Response: Buying VRBO renters insurance is recommended. One cannot predict unforeseen circumstances; may it be weather, illness or unusual circumstances. After many discussions with VRBO regarding this situation, they concluded I did not need to return any monies. Nevertheless, I returned the cleaning fee and offered a sizeable discount for a future booking. My house is listed as the number one vacation rental house in Innsbrook because I am accommodating and do everything I can to make your visit is as special as it can be.

Very disappointing.

  • 1 of 5

Although this was the 3rd year in a row that we rented this house for our family Christmas celebration, we were falsely accused by the owner of 1) breaking a chair, 2) stealing 12 rolls of toilet paper and 3) knocking a clock off the wall by roughhousing. All of these accusations are absurd and totally untrue. We were then absolutely flabbergasted when $197 was deducted from our deposit for the broken chair - a number by the way that was arbitrarily pulled out of the air. We were never shown a receipt or a billing for the cost of a new chair. We called the owner to discuss the matter since the house was pristine when we left. We actually take pictures of kitchen drawers when we arrive to make sure we place everything back where they belong when we leave. Our family is not a "roughhouse" family! If we broke something, we would certainly report it to the owner. We certainly did not "steal toilet paper" and did not "knock a clock off the wall." When we called the owner to discuss, he would not call us back - just sent texts with more accusations against us and a picture of a broken chair. We were so disappointed since this house had become an annual event for our family, but we would never again rent from this owner and suggest you find another place at Innsbrook. If you do, for some reason, decide to go with this house, you should insist the owner arrive when you arrive for a walk-through, and arrive when you leave for another walk-through. We have never been so insulted regarding our family's integrity. Also, when we arrived, the TV, internet, CD player were not working. We called the owner and was told a handyman would come by. No handyman ever showed up and we had to locate the circuit breaker box and restore power ourselves. We never did have internet access throughout the weekend.

Owner's Response: This is the first occurrence in over 2 years when deposit monies needed to be withheld. We have pictures of the before and after damage to the chair; this picture is available if you inquire. It was clearly broken and has required the purchase of the same type of chair from Carol House; one can go on line to verify the cost. I have rented to over 100 different parties and this was the first occurrence when toilet paper was taken; I did not create any charges for this action. After extensive communications with this guest we came to an impasse. The satellites for the TV and computer were removed during the placement of the new deck; this was communicated to this guest prior to their arrival and was accepted by them. If they did not want to stay I would have returned monies. The TV satellite was back in operation soon after their stay began. The computer satellite needed a specialist to come to the house and reconnect the service; this occurred after they left. Things have been fixed and the house looks great. Guest arriving in the spring 2017 will see new decks, barbeque and furniture both upstairs and downstairs. I have a housekeeper that not only cleans but catalogues all things in the house. She knows when something is amiss and I address all problems right away. A handyman regularly addresses issues when they occur. I promptly respond to emails, phone calls and texts.
