Wonderful cabin in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was even more beautiful in person than in the photos. It had everything we needed for a quiet getaway on Lopez. The bed is so comfy and it is so quiet at night. I had my best sleep in many months. I would rent this property or others by the same owners in a heartbeat.

Stunning retreat

  • 5 of 5

Cedar Ridge is the stuff of dreams. Absolutely stunning. The home is filled with beautiful details, from the stained glass, to the modern kitchen, to the rocking chairs on the porch and cozy Pendleton pillows and blankets. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. The only item worth pointing out is that the bathroom is downtstairs and the bedroom is upstairs-- so if you have trouble walking up/down stairs, this may not be the best set up for you. Overall, I would come back here in a heartbeat. It made an already wonderful vacation truly spectacular.

Beautiful home, peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful log home, nicely furnished, clean, and close to the ferry. It was near the ferry but a short and beautiful drive to the rest of the island amenities--which for us was perfect--peaceful and away from it all. Met one of the owners, who was a delight. He shared all kinds of info about the plantings in the beautiful garden. Would love to return.

I will live on this island someday

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here after staying in the owners' other property at the other end of the island. We had a week on the island but could only get the other place for half the time, so we moved here for our last three days at the owner's suggestion. We're so glad we did. I feel like Bill Hader's Stefon character from SNL.....this place has everything: a huge main room, total privacy, a massive garden, and THE WROUGHT IRON DECORATIONS YOU ALWAYS WANTED. It's super-romantic if you have a significant other with you, and you really feel like you're one of the first settlers out there. I live in the middle of a city, so normally I have a hard time sleeping when it's totally silent, but not here. If I ever make a gazillion dollars selling my startup to Micro-oogle-hoo, this place is high on my list for a "name your price" buyout.

I agree with previous occupants that the cabin is simply beautiful with every design detail thought out. Every nook and cranny was filled with books and art and textiles that complete the experience! And, I'm an Interior Designer, so I'm quite discerning = ]...

The home is s-p-o-t-l-e-s-s (sorry Idaho). Look, when you walk barefoot in a house that is in a wooded sylvan such as this, you expect some dirt and grass to be tracked in, but that simply wasn't the case. It really was very clean.

The linens and towels were top-notch and smelled clean and fresh. Again, I'm picky about such things and have stayed in too many B&B's with '$39.95 Bed-in-a-bag' linens and threadbare towels. Thank goodness for peeps that love all cotton as much as I do.

We love to cook and didn't want for anything in that kitchen. In fact I need a new range...the potatoes I made in that oven were legendary! Make sure to visit the Farmers Market on Saturdays in the season and utilize all the goodies in that kitchen.

Now for a just a few little idiosyncrasies...

- Closet space or lots more hooks and hangers in bedroom. Some great built-ins flanking that big window would be great. Just a suggestion.

- As an Interior Designer (again? braggart), I would suggest surfaces closer to the sink in the bathroom for toiletries. Just a cute little dresser or antique commode...when one needs as many lotions and potions as I do to be presentable, one doesn't want to pivot and turn and take two steps in that lengthy process.

- Bedside tables and lamps would be peachy. I need a place to put my book, water, Chapstick, eye drops, nose spray, Kleenex, etc., etc.

- Shades downstairs. I've seen one too many Jason/Michael Myers flicks. I spent an inordinate amount of time asking, "Did you see/hear that?" I'm a scared-dee cat.

All-in-all...the cabin is a beauty and has ALL the amenities one needs for a serene little stay in the woods! It's close to the ferry and the drive to town is three winding road minutes away. Get into the spirit and wave to each passing car. We're Seattle dwelling ex-pats from Texas and that friendliness is the one thing I miss about the South. We'd visit again in a Slo-pez minute!
