Perfect Getaway Time and Time Again!
We truly do feel like this is our second home. We've stayed SO many times and love it more each stay. This time we were under the weather ourselves and right in line with the weather outside. Still, we really enjoyed our stay. We made chicken soup, played games and SLEPT - so much... This wonderful home has everything you need to relax and feel exactly like that's where you are - at home. Thank you so much, Jack and Mary Ellen , for the delicious homemade cookies, thoughtful wine and the newest addition - garage door opener - perfect for the rainy, cold days. We appreciate all you do to make us feel truly at home.
Wonderful Hudson River getaway
Jack and Mary Ellen's place was a wonderful Thanksgiving getaway for us. They personally welcomed us and made sure we were settled in. The house itself is located in a quiet area overlooking the Hudson River, but is only five minutes away from the main street in Hudson. Great location, great house.
We spent most of our time relaxing and reading at house with occasional trips into the nearby town. We loved the wood-burning fireplace (with plenty of wood available, stored in the attached garage). The kitchen was wonderful (a key feature for us) - much better and more extensively equipped than the kitchens in most VRBO houses we've stayed in. The beds were very comfortable.
It's a great property and we would highly recommend it if you're looking for a nice higher-end place near Hudson!
Our Happy Place
Every inch of this luxurious property is thoughtfully designed and impeccably maintained. We've stayed MANY times now and notice something new each time. New trees planted each visit add even more to the beauty and privacy of the property. There are always new pillows, dishes, glasses, kitchen appliances and tools - so many things to have all the comforts of home - even more. We always spend our time as just the two of us, but this home is well suited for two couples with huge open gathering area, but also separate floors for privacy. The hosts are a pleasure to work with and available for any needs, but never intrusive. Whether for 2 or 4, the value far surpasses any area hotel or B and B. You can enjoy all the restaurants, shops, etc, of Hudson, which is less than 5 minutes away, but for when you just can't miss a sunset, you have everything needed to sit back with some wine and create a romantic meal. The privacy, space and the wonderful Hudson River and Catskill Mountain views can't be beat.
Perfect For Two Couples
Great home just outside Hudson, NY. Beautiful view of the Hudson River with deer in the yard every day and even a couple of young foxes sunning themselves within sight of the front door.
This house has everything you could want with plenty of room for 2 couples. Two master suites on separate floors so you will have privacy when you want it and a nicely furnished Great Room when you want to be together.
The kitchen is fully equipped and a pleasure to be in with lots of dishes and serving pieces.
Best of all, this is the cleanest Home Away house we have ever stayed in. You won’t be sorry if you rent this home
Picturesque Property on the Hudson
We made a last minute decision to travel and found this amazing house perched over the Hudson River, less than 2 miles from downtown Hudson. The views from house were mesmerizing. Our host met us upon arrival and explained all the house details. The house was charming and immaculate. The interior was totally renovated and had a beautiful layout. The small details impressed me: the homemade cookies, the sparkling water (our choice....wine was also offered), an assortment of books, binoculars, assorted wildlife including, fox, deer and birds. The house and property were totally peaceful and calming. We would definitely go back and recommend it to friends.

About Jack and Mary Ellen
The owners are from the Hudson Valley and live full time on the property in a separate home they built in 2000.
Jack and Mary Ellen purchased this House in 2008
Why Jack and Mary Ellen chose Hudson
We love the Hudson Valley and wanted to share our view of the river and mountains with our family and friends and now guests. The property is contiguous to our original property and when the opportunity presented itself we made the purchase and completely renovated our 'guest house'.
What makes this House unique
The views of the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains are breathtaking and the glorious sunsets never cease to amaze. The privacy and tranquillity along with the astonishing wildlife makes this property a true treasure.
